What’s behind the name of the band?

Soltera literally means single lady but our group name is from the phrase, “Tara, solo tayo.” We just played with the words.

Why did you join Nescafe 3in1 Soundskool?

We want to prove something. Hindi pa nanalo sa mga contest na ganito ang mga taga-Mindanao. We want to push our music to another level. We want to show everyone that great music emerges from Mindanao. We would do whatever it takes even if it means being away from our families.

What’s behind the name of the band?

We all love ice cream and we have our practice on Sundays.

Greatest obstacle of the group so far.

When we already qualified for the finals, our vocalist had tonsillitis and was not able to sing. The doctor advised her to rest her voice for two weeks. We thought we won’t be able to join anymore but fortunately, she is okay now.

We saw the ad sa school at saka may free taste ng Nescafe. Handa na kami sumikat, magpaparamdam na kami.

Why did you join Nescafe 3in1 Soundskool?

There was free coffee! Kidding aside, we took it as a chance to express ourselves, it was our chance as musicians. Manalo, matalo, basta experience. Dito pa nga lang panalo na (referring to the Boracay workshop).

How did you get together as a band?

Our guitarist used to have a huge crush on a girl who likes the band Paramore, so he looked for members and formed the band Maracore (now Mixed Tape) to impress her.

Iba’t ibang banda kami galing so parang “side project” namin ‘to; Project, for short.

During last year’s Soundskool, nag-expect kami ng konti. Tapos, naisip namin na kulang pa. From last year, we changed our genre — from funky music to alternative (mainstream).

Back when our vocalist chose his girl friend over us and quit the band. When they broke up, he came back to us, his original girl friend.
