MANILA, Philippines - The emotive brilliance of actress extraordinaire Ana Bitong once again shone brightly in the Flor Wan Man Lau-directed Dry Rain, winner of Best Film (Open Division) at the 4th Fresh Wave Short Film Competition. Playing Rima, a domestic helper rejected by her own son yet finding release through her employer’s son, Bitong supremely depicts what the competition’s jury lauded as a “sensitive rendering of the isolation of Filipino maids working in Hong Kong.” Domestic goddess, acting humanitarian — the mark Bitong has made for maids is another great stand for the OFW.
