What changes do you want to see before the world ends?

All Souls Day is a reminder that we are not invincible and we should always remember our Lord in everything we do and say. Having a good heart is not enough. What is more important is that we put our good intentions into action by doing charity work and being good to everyone without expecting anything in return. Being conscious that we can be called to join our Creator anytime, what changes would you want to see or happen? Read on as friends share with us their thoughts.

If the end times are predictable, instead of changing circumstances, I would like to see people being purely happy with the life that they’ve lived no matter how hard it was. That way, life’s end-purpose won’t depend on how much worldly wealth you have or on the things that you lack. It won’t depend on the status that you’ve gained or your failures. It won’t depend on justices or injustices that happened, were ignored, and forgotten. It won’t depend on how we dealt with power or oppression, differences or similarities. Because life would be defined as a sum of sadness, joy, truth and lies, pains and victories.

I want to see people sharing and uniting. With this, I hope that they will realize the power of love through selfless actions. These can lead to hope, so that as one we fight to survive and postpone the end.

One immediate thing I want is a separation of Church and State. I want the Filipinos to have their basic rights to live, love, learn, work and die with dignity and without religious ties.

If I knew the end was near, I would repent all my sins so I could enter the kingdom of heaven. For the country, I would like to see all our government officials united as one, rectifying all the bad decisions they made and doing what’s best for the nation. No one knows when the end will be, but perhaps if we thought it was near, then the world would be a much better place. I think more people would put their faith in God and we would make a more conscious effort to act in love, rather than be motivated by greed, power, or other selfish reasons.

If I knew the end was near, I would want to travel more. Traveling is not all about having fun and making memories, it’s about meeting people, exposing yourself to their culture and sharing what you have learned from them with others. On the other hand, I would have several changes I would like to see in my country and one of these is for it to be a greener place. The Philippines is blessed with a lot of natural resources that make it beautiful. We Filipinos must learn to appreciate and respect these blessings given to us. Lastly, I would want world peace. As clichéd as it sounds, it is the only way other changes can get started. World peace is such a powerful statement and once everyone realizes the true importance of this message, then all other positive changes will follow.

If I knew the end was near I would pursue a deeper relationship with God (because it’s Him I want to see in the end); spend more time with my family (because they are the ones who matter most to me); and live a healthier lifestyle (without the cheats) and become a better steward of all God’s blessings. And maybe, if all will do what I will do, our country and the world will be at its best before everything is gone and we move on to a better place with our mighty Creator!
