10 food finds from the Gourmand Market

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Now in its third inception, the Gourmand Market by NawwTy’s Kitchen brings together a unique smorgasbord of passion project players that bring a different kind of culinary art to the table. I’ve been to each one at the Bonifacio High Street Central and I must say, this market becomes better each time. The foodie community is happy! Blame it on the diverse suppliers in the market. Blame it on the people who love good food. Blame it on Trish Panlilio, Dong Ronquillo and Dara David. Here, an unbiased list of what you’ll find. Visit the market for carefully curated home made deliciousness. Happy shopping+eating!

1. NawwTy’s Kitchen’s crab fat paella

NawwTy’s Kitchen’s signature dish is mouth-wateringly good. The best part? You can bring it home. Call 0918-998-7474 for à la carte food to go. Her Luce comfort food has custom catering, too.

2. Slurp cold brew  by Gerald Montelibano

For coffee lovers, the chemical process behind Slurp’s cold brews is unique, making it different from your coffee shop variety and thereby more special. Go ahead and try something new. For information, call 0917-300-0007

3. Menchu Lopez’s homemade wraps

Gourmet Garage has savory treats to make your stomach healthy and happy. Perfect for a lazy Sunday at home or with friends. For information, call 0918-495-2999

4. Il Ponticello’s succulent porchetta

Pork this big and this yummy deserves special mention. Perfect for family feasts and as a less vulgar alternative to the lechon. For information, call 0917-866-5849

5. Morsels From My Kitchen

Nicole Ortega’s old-fashioned cheese pimiento is always a market best-seller. It also helps that Nicole and daughter Natalia are staples in the marketplace. Order for daily consumption. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. For information, call 0917-537-2209

6. Larcy’s cupcakes

Moist and delicious homemade goodness. This time, the sweets take things a notch higher in diversity and sweetness, which is many people’s weakness. Go ahead and indulge: it’s a Sunday! For information, call 0917-718-0303

7. FryGuys

Must-try gourmet fries by Matteo Panlilio Cu-Unjieng and his best friends. I had the crab and garlic variety and went straight to Fry Heaven. For information, call 0917-558-5847

8. Nenita’s

Nenita’s offers fresh succulent fruits, but we already know that. To avoid the guilt of overindulgence, buy fruits and instantly feel better. Eat well, feel well, live well must be the mantra, right?

9. Bingbing’s mushroom cannelloni

Melt-in-your-mouth goodness in a pan that feeds up to eight. Look for Bingbing in the market and do yourself and your loved ones a favor. Bring home a pan and share.

10. Xancho by Marco Rodriquez

Another young society favorite, Marco’s passion for his food is unparalleled. Try his meatballs, beef short ribs and chicken tagine for a Mediterranean out-of-body experience.— Tim Yap
