Gearing towards love in a healthy way

FROM THE HEART - Gina Lopez - The Philippine Star

There are many ways to detox but the need to detox is universally accepted. We inevitably accrue toxins coming from air, food and even medicine. What detoxification method do we choose? It usually depends on what is hiyang to you. One chooses the path of detoxification that works well for oneself — and according to one’s budget.

These are the detox processes that have worked for me:

Lemonade fast. I have found that calamansi is even better in terms of energy and actually tastier. This is taking only calamansi, organic maple syrup (Grade B) and organic cayenne pepper throughout the day. The proportion is 2 tbsps. of calamansi, 2 tbsps. of maple syrup and a dash of pepper in 8 oz. of water. The first two days are challenging, but after that it is easy and in fact I have experienced more energy.

I sponsored the detox of one staff because she was so overweight. She did it for three months and lost 48 pounds.

Because organic maple syrup is quite pricey, an alternative is Blackstrap molasses which is available at Rustans for P210. Organic Cayenne pepper is not available everywhere so an alternative is three red siling labuyo finely sliced or less whatever you can take.

Juice fast. I am currently on this juice fast by Healthy Shots. There are seven flavors that form one day of detox. These are:

1. Cleansing (cucumber, apple, celery, kale, pineapple, spinach, parsley, romaine lettuce, lemon) for good bowel movement

2. Refreshing (pineapple, apple, mint, orange) for energy boost.

3. Age defying (beetroot, cucumber, apple, celery, kale, pineapple, spinach, parsley, romaine lettuce, lemon). The nutrients support the liver, which helps slow down the aging process.

4. Booster (soy milk, cacao, chia seeds, acai). Acai and chia seeds are super foods that will give your immune system a boost.

5. Glowing (turmeric, pear, carrot, mint, orange). A shot that will surely give you healthy and glowing skin.

6. Hydrating (watermelon, orange, apple). This mouthwatering shot is a great source of antioxidants.

7. Purifying (pear, carrot, cucumber, celery, kale, spinach).

The Ayurveda way

Ayurveda is a centuries-old practice from India wherein the detox is done mostly through oils. It is a massage customized to your body type complete with herbal oils to “detoxify, nourish and revitalize” the body tissues.

The testimonials talk about clearing of nasal passages, removal of headaches, improved skin and addressing constipation. One Japanese talked about a massage called Shiroabhyanga, which did wonders for his eye strain due to too much work.

I flew in Dr. Albert Jo from Bacolod. He is a walking encyclopedia of health. His real desire was to be a chef but he gave in to his father’s wish and became a doctor. After two years of meeting sick people, he decided to throw in the towel and go for his real love — food. Now he has integrated his training and his love by growing food which is good for the health.

You need to watch Dr. Jo’s talk on You Tube. This was taken during his visit to ABS-CBN Foundation. For more information call call 034–4730816 or go to www.raphavalley.com.

I would like to invite you to G Love  at the North Lobby of the Power Plant Mall on Feb. 7 to 8. We are offering essential oil bundles that address asthma, diabetic and stress. The Aroma Touch Technique is an eight-oil therapeutic treatment that addresses stress, toxicity, pain and the immune system. We have been doing trials at my office and the feedback is strongly positive. We will have four masseuses providing the therapy at half the cost just to give people an experience.

I have just recently gotten into uncut flower essences which I find pretty amazing. They work differently than the oils. They address the subconscious. I have used them to spray my workplace, my home, including my car! My experience is a lightness of being. The Valentine’s offer is a flower spray that can address heart hurts.

We have a special Valentine’s offer of chocolate without white sugar! It helps farmers from Davao. Then we are launching G Tours where we can organize your tours to the communities we are helping around pristine beautiful places. Right now we are in Palawan, Saranggani, Sorsogon, Romblon and will very soon start in Guimaras.

I am giving a talk at 4 p.m. on both days. Valentine’s is a day of sharing. I would love to share with you things which may improve your quality of life and I would love to work with you to spread the space of “love” in our country.
