Be the first to win a Swatch Sabel on Nov. 5
MANILA, Philippines - Swatch & Swatch at 918 Arnaiz, San Lorenzo Village, Makati opens to the public at 11a.m. on Nov. 5. Wear your most iconic Swatch when you come to visit.
The Passion in 50 Steps +1 is in the Philippines for the first time. It features 50 iconic watches since Swatch was born in March 1983.
The first one wearing a Swatch that matches any of the iconic watches wins a Swatch Sabel by BenCab. Winners may only win once.
In 1983, Swatch revolutionized the world of watchmaking with Swiss-made quartz wristwatch with only 51 parts. The world’s first plastic watch was made not by hand, but on a fully automated assembly line. The small number of parts and automated assembly made quality Swiss watches accessible, for the first time, to millions of people. Which of these watches do you own?
The first showcase among the 50 iconic watches on display are The Philippines Centennial Swatch by Jaime Zobel and the Don’t Be Too Late, one of the first 12 models released by Swatch in 1984.
The other watches on display are by Keith Haring, Kiki Picasso, Yoko Ono, Christian Lacroix, Jeremy Scott and other renowned personalities in the worlds of art, fashion and sports.
In 1984, French artist Kiki Picasso designed the first Artist Swatch “Kiki Picasso”. Officially, only 120 watches were produced and given away to the VIPs in the art world.
Keith Haring designed watches in 1985: Modele Avec Personnages, Serpent, Milles Pattes, and Blanc Sur Noir. In the same year, Andrew Logan was allowed to use a Swatch for a drag-queen contest in London. Every piece of this Andrew Logan Jellyfish Swatch special was handmade and completely unique. Nowadays, this creation by Logan is almost impossible to find.
Swatch The People was produced to celebrate Swatch’s 10th Anniversary in 1992 and the 100th million Swatch. The following year, Swatch launched the first and, so far, the only platinum Swatch Tresor Magique.
Three major movie directors — Akira Kurosawa, Robert Altman and Pedro Almodovar — designed their Swatch watches Eiga-Shi, Time to Reflect and Despite to commemorate the 100th Year of Cinema in 1995.
Swatch was one of the main sponsors, as well as the official timekeeper for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, USA. These watches were limited- edition replicas of the winners’ medals — Olympia Gold, Olympia Silver, and Olympia Bronze.
In 2011, American-based fashion designer Jeremy Scott created Lighting Flash, which was one of the most popular Specials here in the Philippines.
The “plus one” features the game-changer, Sistem51. Today, Swatch has done it again: sustained investment in research and development, innovative thinking, advanced engineering and simple creativity have turned the watch world on its head. Sistem51 is the first automatic watch made on a fully automated assembly line.
As part of the 25th Year of Swatch Philippines, Swatch & Swatch welcomes you with exclusive programs for the holiday season starting with the Swatch Sabel limited-edition set by BenCab and the Swatch Christmas Special, Holiday Twist, which will only be available at Swatch & Swatch.
