Avon gives Yolanda-stricken teachers something to smile about
MANILA, Philippines - It has been said that lipsticks are one of the biggest impulse buys among women — a lipstick, after all, an inexpensive but effective way to uplift one’s mood and confidence, especially after a breakup, or a lay-off, and as it turns out, even after a super typhoon.
Recently, lipsticks made Yolanda-stricken teachers ready to welcome back students with beautiful smiles and hopeful hearts. Hoping to re-open classes in affected areas after super typhoon Yolanda wreaked havoc in the Visayas region, the Department of Education called out for donations to aid public school teachers.
Avon Philippines gave away beauty packs to close to 150 teachers and non-teaching staff. The company for women also committed to provide lipsticks to the rest of the teachers in Yolanda-affected areas in Regions 6 and 8.
“Avon is humbled to be given this privilege, through our lipsticks, to have a role in these teachers’ heroism as they return to their teaching posts for the sake of the students whom they serve. We are grateful to DepEd for making us a partner in this initiative of helping make lives beautiful again for these teachers,†said Faith Fernandez Aranton, Avon Philippines head for PR and communications.
Teachers are one of the keys to the rebuilding of the spirit of children affected by typhoon Yolanda — it is only fitting that they inspire their students with a rosy outlook and even rosier smiles.
