Leni Robredo talks about keeping her husband’s legacy alive in ‘Town & Country’

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A year after her husband’s untimely demise, Leni Robredo devotes her time to her three daughters, as well as to her thousands of constituents now that she takes on the responsibility of being the Representative of the third congressional district of Camarines Sur. Town & Country gets to spend a day with Leni, who graces the cover of its August issue, as she juggles work and motherhood.

“I feel overwhelmed with the enormity of my work. I’m used to working hard, but the politics side of it scares me,” the neophyte congresswoman reveals. “The challenge really for me is not to lose myself.”

What protects her from being dragged into the political circus was the untarnished reputation of her husband, the late Jesse Robredo, who had served as mayor of Naga for 19 years and later as secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government. His brand of leadership, good governance and integrity is what Leni hopes to continue in government to keep his legacy alive.

Leni is also included in Town&Country’s 101 People You Must Meet Right Now, featured as well in the August issue. Town&Country editor in chief Yvette Fernandez expounds on the list, “It’s a list of interesting personalities who’ve been in the news or are being buzzed about for doing good work or excelling in what they do, people we’d love to have a drink with or share a meal with if given the chance.”

Town&Country is available in all bookstores and magazine stands nationwide.
