TW Steel CEO invites you to ‘Pilot Your Life’

MANILA, Philippines - Watch brand TW Steel, known for its oversize watches, recently introduced its latest collection, propelled by an inspirational worldwide campaign.

TW Steel CEO and co-founder Jordy Cobelens flew in to introduce the Dutch brand’s latest line, the TW Steel Pilot collection, which includes aeronautics-inspired pieces executed in the unique TW Steel manner. Joining Cobelens at the luncheon were Lucerne Group of Companies president Ivan Yao and managing director Emerson Yao, brand manager Cathy Porlaje and marketing manager Judith Staples.

Cobelens also spoke about the “Pilot Your Life” campaign, a drive parallel to the new collection that recognizes how individuals can take bold moves to reach their goals. Present during the event were “Icons of Inspiration” –– local heroes that have battled through life’s challenges and piloted their way to success.

TW Steel recognized four personalities at the Garden Ballroom of the EDSA Shangri-La hotel with the “Pilot Your Life Award” for epitomizing the spirit of the Pilot collection: actor and restaurateur Marvin Agustin, who rose from poverty to become one of the more successful actors and entrepreneurs in the country; beauty queen, model, and television personality Venus Raj, who overcame the hardships of living in a small town to emerge as a global icon of beauty and intelligence; running coach Rio dela Cruz, who went from running to raise money for his education to being backed up by corporate sponsors to head fitness events; and Azkals team captain Chieffy Caligdong, who did not let a knee injury in his younger years hinder his goal of becoming a successful athlete. All awardees were given a piece from the TW Steel Pilot collection for their inspirational ways.

That same night, Cobelens and TW Steel opened its new boutique at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City. Stories of inspiration and great music accompanied the opening cocktails at the venue. Cobelens was joined by two TW Steel “Icons of Inspiration,” Marvin Agustin and Chieffy Caligdong.

Additionally, there is the “Pilot Your Life” promo, which is open to all buyers of TW Steel watches. A grand-prize winner will be flown to the Netherlands to be awarded the opportunity to realize his or her ambition in life. A 2011 Ernst & Young Business Awards “Emerging Entrepreneur” awardee, Cobelens himself started from the ground ––– honing his skills in the business by selling watches to the fathers and relatives of his classmates.

Cobelens also added a personal touch to the store launch with some music from The Zombettes DJs Ornussa Cadness and Sanya Smith. The CEO has his own record label and has played DJ at several Holland music festivals. The TW Steel executive even displayed his own spinning skills to guests and the media.
