What makes you happy?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo - The Philippine Star

I have learned that happiness is so easy to find. It is in us all the time. We just have to reach out and claim it! Being happy need not be felt in big events or expensive gifts. Being happy can be found in our everyday life, in the most simplest acts of kindness shown to us, simple things like having a slice of our favorite cake, seeing the smile in people we meet, even  helping and making others happy can make us feel happy! Read on to find out what makes some of our favorite personalities happy!

Marga Nograles, businesswoman

My family is my happiness.  I remain forever grateful for my wonderful husband Karlo and my beautiful children Mateo, Massimo and Nikka.  It is times I share with them that I am happiest.  They also always inspire me to find beauty and joy in the simple things in life.   Just recently, my friend posted a photo that I loved.  It said, “Dream and expect a miracle.” My dream was a beautiful family.  My life is a miracle. I cannot ask for anything more.

Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste

My family and my career.  My children are the jewels of my life. We spend lots of happy moments together. I am richly blessed to have the opportunity to raise them with selfless involvement. My job, on the other hand, gives me a sense of fulfillment in life. Way more than the prestige and title, I feel happy and at the same time humbled knowing I am able to improve the lives of others and make a positive  difference  in society.  As the Dalai Lama puts it: “Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions!”

Bettina Osmeña, businesswoman

Simple things, like having a meal with my husband and children make me happy. My children have their own busy schedules with work, school and their friends that having a meal with all of them together has become a rare treat. My husband, Serge and I also go on our own short holidays alone without any pressure from our respective careers.  I also enjoy this precious alone time with him away from it all.

Happy Ongpauco Tiu, businesswoman

I am happy with all the blessings the Lord has given me...especially waking up every morning seeing my husband Dexter smile and hearing the laughter of my children — truly priceless!

Zamboanga Sibugay Rep. Romeo Jalosjos Jr.

What makes me happy?  Being with my family and seeing them smile.

Vicki Abary, brand marketing consultant, Vogue Concepts, Inc.

Blaise Pascal once said, “All men seek happiness.” For me, it’s the small, everyday things that truly make up my happiness: A hug when I really need it. Sleeping in freshly laundered sheets. Catching a good movie on TV. Writing. Finding money in my jeans pocket. A giggle with my son. Discovering a new restaurant. Fresh flowers. A well-made cocktail. A foot massage. Yoga. Late-night phone conversations. Praying the rosary. Waking up before my alarm clock. Spending time with friends. A good book. Snuggles. A fab fashion find. Dancing to good music. New lipstick. Sunset sessions. What’s App chat groups.

Rep Abet Garcia, 2nd district, Bataan

I’m happy when my plan falls into place.

What makes me happy is every time I step inside the basketball court. It’s like a different world that I can’t fully explain, but only affirm and validate by experience.

Anthony Semerad, athlete/model

Going home (to Brisbane, Australia) makes me happy because I get to see and spend time with my family.
