If your life were a song, what would it be?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo - The Philippine Star

I’m in love with music. Music keeps me company all day. There is never a dull moment, especially when the song speaks to our hearts and expresses what we are feeling at the moment! Whether feeling happy, sad, excited or bored, when our favorite music starts playing our mood completely changes! There are even songs that tell the story of our lives!

Rachel Alejandro, singer

Seasons of Love from the Broadway musical Rent. Like the song says,  I measure my life according to the love I’ve experienced giving and receiving.

Kenner Chua, VP, Accessories, SM Department Store

Azure by Paul Kalkbrenner. It is the perfect beach song and it suits me perfectly.

The steady vibe of Azure transcends where I am now: contented, happy and at the top of my game; ready for anything life has to offer.

I Am the Starlight, which has always inspired me. I love the message of the song: “Only you have the power within you.” I saw the play in London when I was in my 20s and since then always remind myself that “I am the starlight.”

Eric Pe Benito, stylist

Louis Armstrong’s What A Wonderful World best describes my present state. I always give thanks to the Lord for all the blessings He has given me. Family and friends are priceless.

Jihan V. Jaafar, VP finance, Initiative for Tawi-Tawi Area Development Foundation Inc.

Here Comes the Sun by The Beattles: “Here comes the sun (doo doo doo doo), here comes the sun, and I say it’s all right…” While life is fraught with hardship, pains, and challenges, it is also joys, hopes, and triumphs. It may be a difficult and perilous journey, but there is always something to celebrate and look forward to.

Michele Delgado Sison, mom/fitness and wellness enthusiast

Originally sung by Bette Midler, The Rose sung by Westlife. It’s about being brave enough to have the courage to let love grow. It’s about responding to situations at any given time with love, not fear. Seeing life in the midst of death, hope in places of despair, seeing the good and beautiful in what seems bad and ugly. Seeing God’s manifestation and self-revelation. Giving more of myself to others in love, the more I feel alive.

Hayden Kho, businessman

Coldplays’s  Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. The song is about looking at life in a positive light through trust and love, regardless of what bad fortune comes our way. We must accept everything as it is — no judgments, no attachments, no resistance — because we know that we’re going through it for our own good. Each of us, special and unrepeatable, walks our own path, no matter how dark and difficult, leading to paradise if we stay on it and just trust.  “Every siren is a symphony, every tear a waterfall…”
