La Manille prepares Filipinos for work abroad

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A year and a half after the La Manille first opened in the Philippines, its initial graduates have made in roads in the spa and skincare business.

La Manille’s basic courses include infection control, anatomy and physiology, basic chemistry, electricity and nutrition. The center also offers classes on proper hair removal, basic makeup, facial massage and how to use non-invasive tools in skincare. La Manille trains men and women to enter the skincare field empowered with the essential scientific and business knowledge.

Some graduates are now employed by doctors in top dermatological clinics in the country. Others have chosen to gain further knowledge by taking the ITEC (International Therapy Exam Council) advanced courses conducted by Seven Brown, a top-notch esthetician and ITEC educator from New York.

ITEC is administered from London and has very rigid quality standards. Once one obtains an ITEC diploma, this is a doorway to an international career.

Sylvia Cancio, La Manille owner and administrator, envisions that a lot of their students will join international cruise ships as estheticians.

“The plus factor here is that estheticians can go for three-month contracts aboard cruise ships or liners,” adds Cancio. “With what they have earned they can come home to be with their families more often.”

La Manille is at 2240 Chino Roces Avenue (Pasong Tamo) Makati.

For information, call 810-8196, 819-5881 or 0917-8922240.
