How do you want your children to remember you?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo -

I am so blessed to have three wonderful children. I am so grateful that our Lord has given me the opportunity to be mom to Simon, Cheskie and Cara. I want them to remember me as one who will always be by their side and will never leave them, come what may. We have survived the worst times in our lives with flying colors and I hope when those moments come back again in their minds they will remember it with a big smile on their faces, knowing we were there for each other and that we had each other to hold on to.

I want my children to remember me as their number one, who was always by their side ready to hold their hand, ready to wipe away their tears when they were down and cheered them on to every victory they made. Most of all I hope and pray that when they remember me they can proudly say I want to live my life exactly the way my mom lived hers!

Ces Drilon, broadcast journalist

I want my four sons to remember my love, despite my inadequacies as a mother, as someone who has taught them by example, the values of integrity, hard work and passion and as someone who in turn acquired wisdom through them.

Alice Eduardo, president, Santa Elena Construction & Development Corporation

I want my three children to remember me as a mom who worked hard so that I could give them the best in life, a mom who showed them unconditional love and who, they can proudly say, no matter how busy she was, always made her kids her number one priority.

Michelle Tiangco

Of course I want my son to remember me as the best mom ever, despite being the disciplinarian in our family. I hope he understands that I am strict with him only because I want him to be God-fearing and someone who tries to practice good moral values at all times. I am confident though that he knows I love him unconditionally, and I pray that he never forgets this, as I really do.

Cherry T. Reyes, managing and creative director, Essensuals Toni & Guy Manila Inc.

I want to be remembered simply as their best friend, their guide, the one who loved them the most!

Pia Magalona, entrepreneur and supporter of family rights

That I was their biggest fan, that I love them equally and unconditionally and that I know they love me, too.

Dawn Zulueta Lagdameo, actress

I hope they will always remember that of all the love they will know in the world, it is mine that is the most unlimited.

Julie Torres

I would like my children to remember me as their prayerful, devoted mother who never left their side when they were growing up. I want them to remember me as being strict and loving, a protector, defender, mentor, their close friend (I was very understanding of each of my children’s love life because it is a very normal part of growing up.) I want them to never forget that even as I am very prayerful, I also always have a sense of humor about most everything. Laughter and a real friendship with God: those are very powerful tools to have on the journey of life.

Katrina Ponce Enrile, president & CEO, Jaka Group

I would like my children to remember me as a mother who wasn’t a dictator to them while they were growing up. Someone who set sensible rules for them that were very reasonable and not restrictive. Someone who genuinely loved them for being themselves. Someone who was, and will always be, their safe haven, no matter how old they become.

Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos: First Lady, City of Mandaluyong

I want my children to remember me as a loving and comforting mom who believes there is only a fine, thin line separating my commitment as a responsible mother who takes care and provide their various immediate and essential needs in life while, at the same time, fulfilling my role as a mother for the underprivileged sector of our city in giving public service as part of our priority agenda in governance.
