A Wynn Wynn situation
MANILA, Philippines - Ten years ago, unable to find jewelry she could wear, Wynn Wynn Ong decided to create her own pieces which she showed to friends Ricky Toledo and Chito Vijandre. Using tumbled and faceted gemstones in swirls of copper and silver wire, she produced unusual cuffs and pendants which the duo immediately snapped up for their lifestyle store, Firma.
Her collections never left the boutique’s shelves since then and with each succeeding exhibit launch of her collections, her pieces became more intricate and refined. She also achieved international recognition, exhibiting in New York and Geneva, and landing in the cover of Women’s Wear Daily, among other magazines. She was the only Philippine jeweler featured in a recently published coffeetable book, Hidden Gems of Asia.
What could be a more fitting way to celebrate than to do her best show yet for her dear friends and clientele who have remained steadfast behind her for the past decade? She wanted the exhibit to take the viewer on a visual journey of the jeweled form from the surface of a piece to WITHIN, which became her title for the show.
“Within” was presented by Greenbelt at Ayala Malls in cooperation with Belvedere Vodka, Restaurante Pia y Damaso and Rupert Signs.
