ASK NANAY - Socorro C. Ramos -

Dear Nanay,

May God bless you with a long productive life and also the editorial staff of Philippine STAR. Columnists like you who give hope to their readers are doing a great service to the nation.

I am writing to ask for your help. I want to be a writer-cartoonist but I have no publisher here in General Santos City. I have written a book called Environmental Issues and Concerns.  It consists of 62 pages (not counting the preface and table of contents) and all the pages are drawings or cartoons illustrating my ideas about the different environmental problems (global warming, deforestation, floods, species extinction, etc.) and some proposed solutions (reforestation, energy conservation, solar technology, proper trash disposal, etc.). The drawings are quite realistic. Before writing this book, I read some books and magazines about these environmental issues and they’re written from the viewpoint of evolution scientists. I wrote mine from the viewpoint of creation since I’m a Christian.

If you can give me the address of a publishing company there in Metro Manila or their e-mail address, I will communicate with the publishers.    —Mario G. Plaga

Dear Mario,

You can email your manuscript for review to Karina Bolasco of Anvil Publishing at publishing@anvilpublishing.com. Good luck!

Sincerely,

Nanay

School For Househelp

Dear Nanay,

Good day. With regard to the househelp who wants to go to school, which you featured on Sept. 25, please advise “H” to go to The Registrars Office, Polytechnic University of Phils., Open University (System) , Ninoy Aquino Library Bldg., Sta. Mesa, Manila. They offer an open university system, where classes are held every other Saturday for eight sessions per semester, module type, online-offline sessions. Courses offered are as follows: Bachelor degree in Broadcast Communication, Entrepreneural Management, Bachelor in Information Technology, etc. Tuition fee is affordable, because PUP charges the lowest tuition in the Philippines.
