Cabalen Para sa Kabataan goes to Olongapo City

-

MANILA, Philippines - For the past 15 years, Cabalen “Eat All You Can, Eat All You Want Want” Restaurant has been sharing its blessings through its annual gift-giving project “Cabalen Para sa Kabataan.”

It all started in 1996 when Cabalen founder Maritel Nievera started the Cabalen Restaurant social responsibility outreach program as a means of thanksgiving and giving back to the community. Every Christmas season, a meaningful campaign is made by setting aside a percentage of every centavo generated for the entire month of December’s income for less privileged children.

For this year’s gift-giving activity, Cabalen partnered with Stitching Kapatiran (Kapatiran Foundation), a Netherlands-based charity organization, which supports underprivileged streetchildren and small communities in the Philippinnes. With the help and support of Wads Tiongson Wynberg, co-founder and one of the pillars of Kapatiran Foundation and a recipient of the Royal Honor of Knight in the order of Orange-Nassau for her more than 20 years of service to the Dutch and Filipino communities, Cabalen went to Olongapo City to share its blessings not just for one but for two beneficiaries of the Kapatiran Foundation: the Aeta children of Botolan, Zambales and PREDA (Peoples Recovery, Empowerment and Development Assistance Foundation, Inc.), a center for abused children in Olongapo City.

Eat and be merry: Aeta children enjoy the yummy feast especially prepared for them by Cabalen. They received loot bags, too!

On March 8, Cabalen was welcomed by PREDA program director Alex Hermoso. Cabalen continued its commitment to help destitute children by gathering Aeta children and PREDA’S rescued children from brothels, and also domestic and sexually abused youths. Cabalen headed by its vice president Ian Tiongson and Adji Tiongson distributed grocery bags full of goodies and school bags with school supplies in it.

Cabalen, known for excellent home-cooked Filipino food, also served lunch the children.

Since launching Cabalen Para sa Kabataan in 1996, Cabalen together with its customers has helped thousands of children in Pampanga, Malabon, Pasig, Quezon City, Taytay and now Olongapo City. The more often you eat at Cabalen, the more you are able to give back to the community to show that you care.
