Clash of the best riders in Ultimate Wake Championship

MANILA, Philippines - The search for the world’s most diverse wake rider for 2010 ends with the Ultimate Wake Championship 2011 in the world’s best wakeboarding park, CamSur Watersports Complex (CWC). For the second time, the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) World Series 2010 and 2010 World Wakeboard Association (WWA) Wake Park World Series were combined into one event covering three major wake sports disciplines – boat, cable, and winch insta wake system.

The Ultimate Wake Championship 2011 featured eight categories — pro men, obstacles only, junior men, pro Wakeskate, Open Women Wakeskate, CWC Rail Park Contest, and CamSur’s Rider’s Cup. UWC gave out $82,050 overall prize money. The event featured some of the best pro riders including Philip Soven, Tom Fooshee, Reed Hansen, Daniel Grant and Nick Taylor.

Winning the top plum for wakeboarding was Texan Tom Fooshee. Reed Hansen won the overall champion for wakeskate.

On the first night there was a High Roll Casino Royale Party hosted by Issa Litton. Comic Strip Night the following evening was hosted by Daniel Marsh and comedienne Giselle Sanchez. Clad in all-white, guests glowed in the dark on the third night with the Black Light Party. The fourth night saw two opposite poles with the Fire and Ice Party. The fifth night was the Ultimate Awards Night where the ultimate wake riders were crowned and prizes were handed off to winners of the competition categories.

Female wake riders Jennifer Gilanfarr (US), Tynna Rosero (Philippines), and Jenette Beltran (Philippines) won the top three places in Open Women’s Wakeskate finals. Samantha Bermudez (PHL) and Elisabeth Fuchs (GER) competed in the Open Women Wakeboarding, taking home first and second spots, respectively. 

The Professional Wakeskate Finals boat category winners were Reed Hansen (US), first place; Brian Grubb (US), second place; Andrew Pastura (US), in third place. Philip Soven (US), Trevor Hansen (US) and Andrew Pastura (US) won the top three spots in the Professional Wakeboard boat category.

The 13-year-old cable prodigy Daniel Grant (Thailand) won the top spot in Pro Men Cable Wakeboard, while Tom Fooshee (US) and Dominic Guehrs (Germany) took home second and third spots, respectively. Red Hansen (US), Nick Taylor (US), and Daniel Grant (Thailand) took home the top three spots in the Professional Wakeskate cable category.

Kaesen Suderhond (US) won first spot in Professional Wakeboard winch category, while Yannick Thibault (Canada) and Nate Perry (France) won second and third places. Andrew Pastura (US) landed first place in Professional Wakeskate winch category, as Nick Taylor (US) and Leo Labadens (France) took home second and third places, respectively.

Junior Men Finals saw Nick Lewis (Germany) winning first place, while Jason Colborne (South Africa) and Idan Mizrahi (Israel) took home second and third places, respectively. Tom Fooshee (US), Daniel Grant (Thailand), and Kim Yong Il (Korea) placed first, second, and third respectively in the Pro Obstacles Only Finals.
