MANILA, Philippines - In Rosario, an epic tale set in the ’20s and ’30s, Jennylyn Mercado flexes her acting chops as she plays the titular role in this sweeping biopic. To complement the dramatic looks in the retro flick, Laura Mercier training manager and international makeup artist Sean Stevenson created two looks — soft and natural for day and amplified drama for night — to show off Mercado’s Pinay beauty.

Creating Laura Mercier’s Signature the Flawless Face
Step 1
Prime the skin. Apply Foundation Primer to clean face. Foundation Primer (P1,550) is a lightweight, creamy gel meant to be used prior to foundation, creating an invisible layer that acts as a buffer to outside elements. The Foundation Primer was created by Laura Mercier herself in 1995. With Vitamin A, C and E that acts as anti-oxidants and protects the skin from harmful aging effects of the environment.
Laura Mercier’s tip: Keep foundation primer in the refrigerator — it feels even more refreshing on the skin and helps reduce puffiness.
Step 2
Apply Foundation. Crème Smooth Foundation (P2,250) comes in nine shades: Warm Ivory, Vanilla Beige, Sunny Beige, Blush Ivory, Golden Beige, Tawny Beige, Porcelain Ivory, Shell Beige and Honey.

Step 3
Place concealer like Laura Mercier’s Secret Camouflage Concealer (P1,650), an industry favorite, over spots that need coverage. The Secret Camouflage is created with high level of pigment so your skin will achieve full coverage with little product used. Apply Secret Brightening (P1,150) powder to your under eye and blend outwards to hide dark circles.
Step 4
Set Face with Loose Translucent Powder (P1,550).
Laura recommends that everyone sets their makeup with a translucent loose powder because it has no pigment and it will not distort the color of your makeup. Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder is an extremely lightweight, sheer and silky setting powder that contains the finest French “cashmere” talc and a unique light-reflecting ingredient that creates a “soft-focus” appearance for fine lines and imperfections. Apply Secret Brightening powder to your under eye to hide dark circles.
Achieving the night look
Eyes: Apply Wheat Eye Basics as eye primer (P995). Using the Eye Color Brush (P1,150), apply Violetta Sequin Color Eyeshadow (P895) to the eyelids. To give depth to the eyes using a ponytail brush apply Peacock Sequin Color Eyeshadow (P895). Apply Black Caviar Eyeliner (P995) close to lash line with a flat eyeliner brush (P995). For the eyebrows use the Blonde triangular eyebrow pencil (P795) and set with the Brow Powder Duo in Soft Blonde (P995) using a Double Ended eyebrow brush (P1,450). Curl eyelashes and apply two coats of Full Blown Mascara (P995) to add volume to the lashes.
Cheeks: Apply City Pink Blush (P995) to the apple of the cheeks with a Cheek color brush (P1,950). Apply Matte Bronzer on the temples of the face, under the cheekbones and jawline where the sun usually hits your face. Use the number “3” technique.
Lips: Apply Truly Red Crème Lip Color (P895) to give the look a little edge.
Achieving the day look
Eyes: Apply Wheat Eye Basics as eye primer (P995). Apply Buttercream eyeshadow (P895) to eyelids using an eye color brush (P1,150). Apply Coffee Ground eyeshadow (P895) on the crease of the eyes and blend with a ponytail brush (P1,250). Apply Black Caviar Eyeliner (P995) close to lash line with a flat eye liner brush (P995). For the eyebrows use the Blonde triangular eyebrow pencil (P795) and set with the Brow Powder Duo in Soft Blonde (P995) using a Double Ended eyebrow brush (P1,450). Curl eyelashes and apply two coats of Full Blown Mascara (P995) to add volume to the lashes.
