'Heroes and Villains' by Carmen Guerrero Nakpil is about extraordinary people
MANILA, Philippines – Carmen Guerrero Nakpil will launch her new book Heroes and Villains on Dec. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Filipinas Heritage Library, corner Ayala and Makati Avenues, Makati City.
Handsomely designed and illustrated, the book was written by the veteran author last year in the same easy, fast-paced prose of the widely acclaimed trilogy Myself, Elsewhere, Legends and Adventures and Exeunt.
Close on the heels of her autobiography, Heroes and Villains is not a memoir. Neither is it a collection of elegant essays or the biting political commentary Nakpil has been known for. The book consists of 17 true, short stories about remarkable people who lived, interacted, and did extraordinary things in the Philippines, often altering our destiny.
The characters range from Spanish King Philip II to Gen. Antonio Luna (in our war with America) to the current bar topnotchers.
Heroes and Villains by Carmen Guerrero Nakpil will be available at National Book Store. It is published and distributed by Cruz Comunications, 1006, Tower One & Exchange Plaza, Ayala Ave., Makati City. For inquiries, call 891-1945.
