Men of vision and big dreams

-

MANILA, Philippines -  The scions of Philippine industry giants are giving the country a respectable presence in China.

Larry Chan, Hans Sy, Mike Tan, and Alfred Ty are expanding local enterprises abroad in the world’s fastest growing economy, relying not on their famous last names but on qualities drilled down to their generation. They were brought together in China’s tallest building for Lifestyle Asia’s August issue and photographed from the deck of the Shanghai World Financial Center.

In separate interviews, each shared personal experiences candidly and gave an overview of what it takes to scale the heights.

The high-powered issue includes an insider’s account of the annual Woodstock event headlined by Warren Buffet. The gathering brought luminaries to Berkshire Hathaway to listen to one of the most admired business leaders and philanthropists.

The second richest man in the world, who still lives in the same three-bedroom house he bought more than 50 years ago, gave his views on Goldman Sachs, and other subjects of interest to the investing public.

The monthly magazine also features the spread of local cuisine prepared for Al Gore during his recent Manila visit. Another recent visitor, Philippe Charriol, took some time to talk about his luxury brand and the daughter who is stepping up to take on more responsibilities in the business.

The August issue of Lifestyle Asia is now available in bookstores and magazine stands.
