First Move Chess Tournament at NBS

MANILA, Philippines - Over 60 young chess wonders battled it out in National Book Store’s First Move Chess Tournament at Bestsellers in Robinsons Galleria. First Move gives young players a chance to play in an organized format to hone their skills or just play for fun

Ruling the 8 years old and under category was Timothy Dela Cruz while Andrew Sopunco and Joel Aldrin Ea placed second and third. Shania Maeq Mendoza ranked first in the 11 and under category, followed by Leo Arcay and Al Santiano. Paolo Bersamina captured the title in the 15 and under category, with Collins Javier and Justin Pe in second and third. The best female player award went to Paula Lim. The series will continue at Bestsellers, every first Saturday of the month as follows: July 3 and August 7. The culminating event will be on Sept. 4 at the Robinsons Galleria Activity Center.
