The Montecito experience

-

MANILA, Philippines - It was a fierce battle on a peaceful Sunday.

At the recent event held in Montecito, a private estate of Ayala Land Premier located at the sprawling Ayala development Nuvali in Laguna, residents and guests enjoyed the unhurried, tranquil life offered by the idyllic community with the first- ever remote-controlled sailboat regatta entitled “Sail Away: The Montecito Regatta Experience.”

Underscoring its commitment to the environment and the community, Montecito organized the event by the lake within the development – engaging attendees in a fun day of food, art and crafts, and especially the exciting race sponsored by major brands such as Havaianas, Krispy Kreme, InterContinental Manila, The Philippine STAR, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Hunter Douglas, 7-Eleven, Calibre, Billionaire, Technomarine, Isuzu Alabang, Honda Alabang, Toblerone, Boysen Virtuoso, Abenson, and Globe Platinum.

As a way of giving back to society, the sailboat organizers invited various beneficiary organizations, namely, Haribon Foundation, Pusod Inc., and Habitat for Humanity. The Haribon Foundation for the Conservation of Natural Resources, simply known as Haribon Foundation, is a membership organization dedicated to the conservation of Philippine biodiversity. Meanwhile, Pusod Pilipinas, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit organization whose mission is to protect and enhance the ecosystems of the Philippines, and to show their significance to the world. Lastly, Habitat for Humanity, is an organization known for the homes it has created over the decades for the poor and underprivileged — empowering those who are willing to give their time and effort into building permanent homes where people can live with dignity as their children grow up with better opportunities made available to them.

Holding their breath in anticipation, representatives from these beneficiary groups, along with the many families and friends who were present during the event, cheered on the remote-controlled sailboats which raced on the lake’s waters during the fine Sunday afternoon. In the end, Isuzu Alabang’s sailboat, operated by Pinggoy Gamboa, sailed ahead of everyone and won for itself and its partner beneficiary Haribon Foundation the top prize. Second placer, meanwhile, was Brazilian flip-flop brand Havaianas Philippines, who was partnered with Pusod Pilipinas; and a close third was Honda Alabang, who teamed up with Habitat for Humanity.

An event designed for everyone in the family, the “Sail Away: The Montecito Regatta Experience” underscored the many lifestyle activities available inside the community of Montecito. Guests may choose to go fishing on the lake and have their catch dressed and grilled at the lake where they can enjoy a panoramic view as they enjoy their fresh lunch. Families may entertain their friends at the sprawling greenways and social spaces within the development, as well as the nearby commercial and entertainment centers surrounding the area. All of these create the distinct spacious and tranquil community Montecito is known for.

Indeed, Montecito is the perfect home for families and friends to grow their relationships, within the peaceful natural setting – on any given day.
