How do you de-stress?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo -

Life is much more challenging now. With so many things happening around us and competition everywhere, we want to accomplish more. We want to give more to our love ones. It’s important that we find time for ourselves to de-stress and recharge.

Denise Aquino, owner, Tokyo Posh

My fool-proof, no fail de-stressing combo: one bag of M&Ms and one hour of mani-pedi at Dashing Diva. But if I’m lucky and I have the time (which I usually don’t, that’s why I’m stressed), I’ll even top this off with a one-hour call-in home massage to relax.

Albert Martinez, actor

I like getting a massage, riding my bike early in the morning with the group we formed in our neighborhood, tinkering with my two vintage cars and going out of town with my family.

Senator Chiz Escudero

I go to my very own sanctuary: home. By spending time with my kids, playing with them, telling each other stories, and sleeping beside them, I’m already reinvigorated from a stressful day.

Karen Davila, TV and radio personality

I read the word of God, meditate, listen to good music, including praise or classical. Sometimes, I get a massage. A glass of wine always helps!

Pangasinan Rep. Gina de Venecia

I think of happy thoughts just like Wendy and Peter Pan. But to mamitas like me, the definite stress beaters are the priceless moments that I spend with my two apos, Isabella and Gabrielle.

Chot Reyes, head coach, Talk n Text PBA team and Coach Inc.

My primary de-stresser is golf. Nothing beats the serenity and peace of the fairways. Then I’ll have a foot spa and a soothing scalp massage at Toni & Guy. Finally, if my sked permits I’ll take the family to an out-of-town vacation.

Martin Nievera, singer

After a long stressful day, week, month, the moment I hold my son, any of the three, I am immediately stress-free.

Mon Santiago, Vice president for corporate affairs, San Miguel Corporation

Having a strong support system like my family helps me cope with stress. Dada and my kids make up my comfort zone, which is why I make it a point to spend quality time with them. We make time for family bonding and leisure activities on weekends. I also try to go home straight from work on weekdays every chance I get so I can spend more time with them.

Ronald Pineda, owner, Folded & Hung

I try to be as active as possible, a bike in the morning with my daughter, I play badminton, and currently I’m into this Core Kinesis personal fitness regimen that I attend regularly, which helps me a lot in releasing all the stress in my system.

Domini Primero, senior partner, Driven Manila Events

I literally sweat it out by going on the stationary bike for 30 minutes while listening to Christian house music, then I hit the sauna for 15 minutes. I lock myself in there and pray. If I’m still stressed out after that, I go out of my way to see my kids for a group hug.
