Lulu Tan Gan stars in Metrowear Icon 2009
MANILA, Philippines - Metrowear and Metro magazine continue to provide a platform for Filipino designers to showcase their creations with a celebration via the Metrowear Icon 2009 on Nov. 10, 7 p.m. at the NBC Tent, Power Plant Mall.
According to Metro magazine’s editor-in-chief Kat Holigores “Metro magazine continues with its advocacy of being the vehicle for designers, old and young to be seen and to be supported. Through our pages and our events we give the rest of the country a glimpse of the talent that lies within its shores. We shall continue to look for new talents and watch over those who continue try to improve and diversify their work.”
Renowned Filipino designer Lulu Tan-Gan and her creative team will create a scene that would showcase timeless Filipino Fashion that is both indigenous and innovative in line with Metrowear’s vision of establishing Philippine Fashion in the global scene.
Holigores adds, “Metro chooses a personality who has been an integral part of Filipino design and creativity as seen in previous Metrowear icons such as well-known designers Auggie Cordereo and Randy Ortiz. For many years Lulu Tan Gan was the designer to go for comfortable, classy and even quirky knitwear. Her designs have proven to be ahead of their time, and yet remain classic pieces that women can still use today. This lady has also been a nurturing force in the careers of many a young and up and coming designer. She has been generous with her knowledge and skills and has always opened her doors to those who need more exposure for their work. Tan-Gan is an icon because she has built a solid brand and a reputation for quality, and has been recognized for her work both locally and abroad.”
