A priceless experience
MANILA, Philippines - Sacramento Sam’s Gemstone Mining, a new name in children’s entertainment, is a Wild, Wild West kind of fun that revisits the priceless experience of gemstone mining — cowboy style. This well-loved interactive entertainment, which originated in the US, is now at the fourth level of EDSA Shangri-La Mall. With real wooden planks, oak barrels, boulders of rock, giant cacti and cowboy/cowgirl costumes on display, this new “Old Western” corner is sure to delight everyone.
Kids are given an apron so they won’t dirty themselves having lots of fun finding gems. Each of the kids is given a bag of rough (a small pouch containing soil with hidden gemstones inside). The gems are randomly distributed in each bag, so it becomes even more exciting for kids to anticipate what they will mine. The rough is then poured into a sifting pan. Kids are encouraged to submerge the sifting pan into the water flowing inside the sluice run (a mini replica of a river with real running water). The panning process starts here, as the kids are asked to “dip, dip, shake and shake” the submerged sifting pan to reveal lovely precious gemstones that they have mined!
Girls will love discovering colorful gems like sapphires, amethyst, jade, watermelon tourmaline and the lucky love gem — rose quartz! Boys will be ecstatic as they unearth “power stones” like the tiger’s eye, black onyx, the shark’s tooth, or the hematite arrowhead.
Sacramento Sam’s is also educational. Gems with corresponding names and pictures are sorted out — protection stones, money stones, lucky stones, love stones. And because fun never ends at Sacramento Sam’s, kids can turn these precious mines into a necklace, bracelet, ring, even a keychain.
