Open a bottle of happiness
MANILA, Philippines – As another school year starts, Filipino teens everywhere might still be feeling a little too sluggish to begin each day with a smile painted on their faces. But who says all the sweet getaways from life’s hassles and sheer moments of happiness have to stop?
Coca-Cola believes that the opening of school is but another opportunity to open happiness by opening new connections with schoolmates and making new friends. Since the launch of the “Open a Coca-Cola, Open Happiness” campaign last April, the refreshing, fizzy goodness of Coke has been continually refreshing Filipinos all over the country, telling them there is no better breather from the troubles of these tough times than a bottle of happiness shared with everyone. So, for teens who might be feeling the anxiety of having to go back to the classrooms once again, happiness will be easy to find in every corner.
Say, for instance, in a library, where silence is unquestionably imperative. For dynamic youngsters always looking out for the extreme, such a spot wouldn’t really make the the “Coolest Hangouts” list. But Coca-Cola, with its freshest 30-second TV spot aptly titled “Library,” developed in partnership with creative genius Wieden+Kennedy in Amsterdam and Poland, tells us otherwise. Putting a Coca-Cola twist on the classic “boy meets girl” plot, it toys with the idea of being able to connect and refresh happiness amidst the incongruity of one’s surroundings and the seeming limitations they impose.
The spot opens up with two virtual strangers, a boy and a girl, studying at the same library table. Noticing one another’s quiet charm, they begin drawing sketches; without a spoken word, they’re soon communicating fluently. The boy then begins to ink a bottle of Coca-Cola on his arm and a smooth flow of liquid from within the bottle comes alive. Instantaneously, he pops open the icy-cold Coca-Cola. Catching the wondrous sight, the girl begins to draw ice cubes being dropped into a glass onto her own arm. In no time, a sparkling new blossom of a romantic moment happens as they touch each one another’s hands for the first time.
Showing how the simple act of sharing a Coca-Cola bridges the spaces between strangers, “Library” inspires every teen to enter the school doors with a sweet smile and a positive attitude towards another chapter in their lives; that more than just worrying about restrictions, deadlines or scary situations, they can begin opening up new connections by merely sharing life’s simple moments of joy and reach out to turn “virtual strangers” to friends. And through all these, teens can expect that an ice-cold Coca-Cola will always there to bring that worthwhile moment of fun and refreshment whenever and wherever they need it.
Indeed, now sharing Coca-Cola happiness is made even more accessible. With Coca-Cola (237ml) available at P7 in Metro Manila (price varies in areas outside GMA) and Coca-Cola 200ml Sakto sold for P5 (price varies in Iloilo and Bacolod), taking another’s hand, pouring on that refreshing vibe and opening up happy connections will never be hard. So start the adventure of turning random faces to sweet smiling friends when you open up a Coke and open yourself and others to happiness.
