Jose P. Laurel's life staged
MANILA, Philippines – In commemoration of the birth anniversary of the late Philippine President Jose P. Laurel, writer-director Francis O. Villacorta with Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas, the Office for Local and International Linkages (LINK), and the Center for Batangas Studies-Jose P. Laurel Museum presented “The Jose P. Laurel Story” on Feb. 28.
Cast members included Migui Moreno (Jose P. Laurel), Ces Aldaba (the old Laurel), Diana Malahay (Pacencia Hidalgo), Gina Villa (Doña Jacoba), Christian Valleser (the teenage Laurel), Pam Hundana (Inang Bayan), Patrick Jimenez (Doy Laurel), Yutaka Yakahama (General Yamashita), Al Gatmaitan (General Homma), Abel Napuran (Nicanor Reyes), Allan Palileo (Manuel L. Quezon), James Mendoza (Manuel Roxas) and Robert Correa (Ramon Magsaysay).
Recently, the group also staged the concert-drama “Dominic,” based on the life and times of St. Dominic Savio at the Savio Dome, Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati.
The subjects that interest Villacorta’s group include the lives of saints, great men and women of history, classic world drama, stage adaptations of great literature and world cinema.
