Put the cool back in old school

-

MANILA, Philippines - If you’re a ’60s kid, your most requested song on the jukebox probably would be Ricky Nelson’s Poor Little FoolWho’s Sorry Now by Connie Francis or maybe you like dancing away to Breakin’ Up is Hard to Do by Neil Sedaka. And chances are, you miss grooving to them, right?

On April 3 at 9 p.m. the ’60s vibe will once again fill the air as Teatrino at the Promenade, Greenhills Commercial Center plays host to “The Rockin’ ’60s: Jukebox Hits.”

“The Rockin’ ’60s: Jukebox Hits” will surely take you on a trip down memory lane,” says Nancy Reyes Lumen, “to your first mix party, slow dancing with your high school crush and even maybe your first kiss.”

Listen to the melodies of yesteryear as sung by the Ricky Nelson of the Philippines, Titus Santiago, Lorie Paredes, (formerly of the Ambivalent Crowd), crooner and Michael Bublé sound-alike Milo Ocampo, and quintessential singer/composer/arranger Dero Pedero to the rhythm of the Back Track band led by Mike Pedero. Fronting the show is an all-ladies combo called The Peppermints featuring the show’s producer Elen Golez.

“After the chu-chu-wari-wadi-waps the dance floor is open all night to everyone who wants to do the mashed potato or the twist,” says an excited Lumen. “When you buy your tickets – P1,200 for two and P800 for one — proceeds will go to The Buas Damlag Youth Foundation Medical Fund. Aside from having fun, it’s also about helping others.”
