If you could invent anything, what would it be?
Since Edison invented the light bulb, life has never been the same. Then the telephone came…followed by so many other gadgets that have made life more convenient for people as the centuries progressed. Who would have thought that today we would be able to connect to loved ones around the world 24/7 with the cell phone and computers? Life with all our machines — for leisure, for medical procedures, for travel and for everyday living — is convenient as it is…but what if we could invent more?
Dr. VALERIE HERBOSA FLORO: If I were to think of myself only, it would be a hybrid fast craft so I can travel to any part of the world hassle-free and without using gas or oil. But if I were to think of the whole world, it would be a huge natural enclosure of earth as a substitute for the ozone layer to combat the catastrophes of polar ice melting, etc.
BUBBLES PARAISO, actress: It would be a gadget that can dry hair in five minutes or less. I have long, thick straight hair, so drying it takes quite some time, and so I usually end up leaving the house with my hair still wet.
HENRI CALAYAG, hair and makeup stylist: I would like to invent a machine that would color and cover my clients’ hair regrowth or gray, white hair in an instant.
TESS VILLAREAL, dog groomer, Pampered Pooch: As a dog lover, dog owner and pet stylist, I’d want to invent a gadget that will allow dogs to speak. It would be so nice if we could communicate with them verbally, engage in conversation, and know their thoughts and feelings instead of perpetually trying to figure out what their body movements and vocalizations (barks, growls, whines, howls) convey. The gadget would particularly be of great help whenever a dog is sick as the dogs can tell their masters if they are in pain and where it hurts exactly, so they can be diagnosed and treated properly.
RACHEL “KATIE” DEL MAR, TV host, member of the board, MTRCB and CCP: Dreams have no limits, right? I would like to invent something handy and affordable, like a pocket-sized inhaler that you can just breathe in once and be cured forever of any illness. It will have no limits and will work on anything as small as a toothache and as big as cancer. It will rid you of everything negative including thoughts and feelings. Best of all, you shall be compelled to pay it forward because you would only need to use it once!
RONALD PINEDA, owner, Folded & Hung: I will invent a solution which, when mixed with water, can be used as gasoline for cars. This will definitely lower the cost of all our expenses and make the lives of Filipinos a lot easier.
Representative IRWIN C. TIENG, Buhay Party List, persons with disability advocate: I would invent a medicine that would instantly repair intellectual disability. There are a lot of disabilities caused by damage from the brain that affects many people, especially children.
