Switching to Sony Ericsson

CHUVANESS - Cecile Van Straten -

There was no way I was going to part with my Nokia phones ever, until Sony Ericsson gave me a C902 to try out.

At first I had my apprehensions, knowing Nokia is best for texting. But what got me was the 5 mega-pixel Sony Cyber-shot camera that comes with the phone.

As a blogger and reporter, I never leave home without a camera. But there are days when you simply forget, or your battery dies on you. This is where a good camera phone comes in handy.

Because it’s 5 mega-pixels, it’s not the highest resolution, but I’ll tell you something my friend Jiki told me: “low-res” cameras are most flattering for self-portraits. Take a picture of yourself in the mirror. Lines and flaws soften or disappear. You’ll love it.

As far as texting goes, I’ve gotten used to the C902. Although it’s not as fast as a Nokia, it works for me.

What I love is the subtle text message tone that is unique and doesn’t startle you, unlike that all-too familiar Nokia tone everyone has, where you always think the text is for you.

Now comes the good news. Sony Ericsson, in partnership with the Philippine Star, invites you to join Sony Ericsson World View 2008, a global contest with amazing prizes.

Local winners under the Philippine Star categories win a K770i Cyber-shot phone. These winners are eligible to join the global competition where the grand prize is a trip of a lifetime worth £10,000, while the People’s Winner gets a trip worth £5,000.

Four winners from the Philippine Star categories and the top three highest voted images will move on to global judging by end October.

The winner gets a trip of a lifetime worth £10,000. Another will be awarded People’s Winner, which will be based on the highest number of votes across the participating markets. The winner gets a trip of a lifetime worth £5,000. Winners for the Philippines will be announced in November, while winners of World View 2008 will be announced in December. Complete competition rules can be accessed in the World View website. (Source: Sony Ericsson)
