I Love Gibson Girl

If collections are indications of a designer’s state of mind, then Marc Jacobs must be in a good place right now. His most recent showing for Marc Jacobs has to be one of his most stunning collections in recent history.

We call it Aunt Jemima-meets-Gibson Girl.

Jacobs was obviously inspired by old Southern Americana with the worker checks and apron silhouettes mixed with porkpie hats and marmish looks.

Add a dash of glamour with upturned shoulder pads and layers of rich Eastern fabrics in metallic foil. The result is a kind of magic only Marc Jacobs knows how to spin.
