What trait did your kids inherit from you? …and what do you wish they hadn’t?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo -

Many times, we look at our children and see parts of ourselves in them — the good parts and the bad. Like everything in life, our children are products of both nature and nurture. We asked personalities what their children inherited from them and what they wished they hadn’t. Batangas Vice Governor MARC LEVISTE : Ronin is a mini-me. He inherited my love of sports, especially basketball; having crushes at a very early age; love of reading and studying history and current events. I think he’s the next politician in our clan. We’re both sensitive or matampuhin, which is one thing I wished he didn’t get from me!

Arielle is sweet, loves to sing and draw. I wish she wasn’t spoiled, though she knows it pays to be daddy’s girl... and the only girl!

C2  is growing up to look physically like me, he seems to be a barako (a true Batangueño trait), and  sip-sip sa mga lolo (like father, like son).

ANN LEVISTE , wife of Vice Governor Marc and businesswoman: Ronin inherited my being an honor student and thoughtful. Arielle: obedience, being an honor student, and a good fashion sense (she chooses her own clothes and she can tell if Mommy is wearing a Marni or Pucci, or can say if Mommy is using a Chanel or an Hermes bag). I wish she did not inherit being a crybaby and very kikay. C2: my love of eating!

POPS FERNANDEZ, singer: Like me, my kids like simple things and love to stay home; one trait I wish they didn’t get from me is that sometimes they are too nice.

TIM CONE, head coach, PBA Alaska Aces: Empathy. It is something I have had to use to be a successful coach and it seems that my children have picked it up. One trait I wish they didn’t inherit from me is procrastination.  I constantly battle it, yet I see it in my children, too.

RIANNE JOSON CUEVAS, businesswoman: All my five children excel in all their endeavors with passion. What I hope they do not forget is to have enough time for themselves. Even God rested on the seventh day.

SHEILA ROMERO, CEO, Oracle Residences and co-owner of Beyond Bamboo: My four children are all extroverts like me. They are very sociable and have very endearing personalities. The trait that I wish they did not inherit  is my inability to manage my time well.
