Does the world need Superman?

If only the world were simple, if only we can categorize people as good or evil, then a superhero is all we need. But as our respondents point out, there is a superhero in all of us – we have the power to make a difference in this world, which is, in the simplest terms, what Superman is all about.
IZA CALZADO, actress: The idea of Superman is comforting and inspiring but I think what the world needs more than Superman is for all of us to become superheroes in our own way. If we help others, stop being so selfish, unite and strive to make this world a better place to live, then we’d all end up saving the day.
VJ KC MONTERO: Not anymore, it already has me!
ABBYGALE ARENAS DE LEON, makeup artist: I pray to God for strength, but the actual lifting of muscles is from ol’ reliable me! I know that every person can be a superhero in his own right. I don’t mind living with kind-hearted people, they are my superheroes.
ANTHONY YUPANGCO, entrepreneur/culinary enthusiast: Yes, Superman stands for truth and justice, which is something that cannot always be seen in people today, but in a simple manner, individuals who work hard and are dedicated to their professions are Supermen in their own right. Therefore, who really needs Superman when you have one right under your nose?
RAJO LAUREL, designer: Wow, how very Lois Lane! If only for the thought that Superman can save the world from natural disasters, then by all means, please send him our way. However, we all have a Superman inside of us aching to be unleashed. My prayer is that we use that power today.
CARMINA SANCHEZ, marketing communications consultant: I don’t think the world needs Superman because people can’t rely on just one person to save them from all the bad consequences of their bad choices. People need to be responsible for their actions and rely on the unique powers each one of them possesses.
TINA DANIAC, designer: No. We need God instead.
RACHEL ALEJANDRO, singer: The world, especially the women, is in dire need of Superman. If there were 6’4"-tall, drop-dead gorgeous men with perfect bodies who never have to go to the gym and only fly for exercise, forever in love with only one woman and can never lie, the world would be a much happier place.
