What’s one thing that you did for the first time that you’ll never do again?

WORDSWORTH - Mons Romulo -
I always encourage my kids to go beyond what they can do and try to do things they have never done before. There is always something we can learn from whatever we try to do and that experience can enrich our lives. There are things which I have tried at least once and then having done it, vowed never to do it again. It is human nature, I guess, to want to try something new at least once – for the heck of it. I asked that question this week. Read on to find out just what the people I spoke to had to say.

Paolo Paraiso,
model and actor: Two weeks ago I went to Bangkok for the first tme. I decided to go to the nude shows with ping pong balls and darts at Pat Pong. As soon as I saw the show I knew that it was going to be the last time.

BootS Anson-Roa,
actress turned politician: What I did and will continue to do is stay married to one and the same man.

Gabby Estrella,
businessman: I used to smoke for about a year in college. I was also on the UP varsity swimming team then. Our Japanese swimming coach told me that I should stop smoking in order to improve and become competitive in the sport. I took his advice seriously and I never smoked again. I am very happy that I quit.

Julius Babao,
TV personality: Marrying Tintin is one thing I did for the first and last time in my life.

Pia Guanio,
TV host: Eat durian.

Louie Claparols,
designer: Ride a roller coaster and believe that true love conquers all.

Ciara Sotto,
actress/singer: Love my boyfriend more than my best friend.

Rajo Laurel,
designer: I normally repeat the things I do since there may be a chance to improve, enjoy and see things differently on the second and third try.

Dyan Castillejo-Garcia,
TV host, Sports Unlimited: Bungee jumped solo, head first, from 150 stories in Australia two years ago for a Sports Unlimited episode. It was frightening! I could barely jump off from platform. I probably would not do it again unless maybe with my husband in a tandem jump.

Margarita Yuchengco Locsin,
corporate communications manager, La Farge Services Phil. Inc.: Move to another country without planning. I moved to London without checking the rent rates and paid a fortune for a serviced apartment in Chelsea, which was the size of a shoe box, with lousy housekeeping and unfriendly management. When my mom got the bill she nearly killed me. Months later, my officemate asked me how much I was paying since she lived near and wanted to rent out her flat. When I told her how much I was paying my friend teasingly told me that she’d move out of her flat immediately and leave her family and her precious belongings behind. To this day I cringe when I walk by that flat. And all my titos and titas make fun of me whenever they see the flat.

Tokie Tantoco,
director, Rustan’s Group of Companies: Drink, get drunk and dance like a chicken without a head by myself on the dance floor of a disco.
