It's About Time

- Cris Villonco -
Swatch and Gift Gate are at it again. This time they did it with the special Swatch screening of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines at My Cinema of Greenbelt 3.

Guests came in the dress code specified on the invitation which meant metal, leather, black and the all important Swatch watch. The invite also specified that all female guests shold bring a hunk . . . so there were definitely a lot to choose from!

Once more, Tita Virgie Ramos of Gift Gate prepared a grand spread — this time a Swiss buffet of chocolate fondue, cheese, pasta Bundnerfleisch, Gersten Suppe and so much more from Old Swiss Inn. The meal was a perfect complement to the Swiss quality and heritage of Swatch watches.

General Rowell Santiago with his troop of Swatchers guided the guests as Project: Terminal 3 began.

The host for the evening’s ceremonies was one of the most fashionable Swatcher’s around, Tessa Valdes. She welcomed the guests who were led by winningest coach Joel Banal and his two champion teams the PBA All-Filipino conference champions Talk N Text including the PBA’s real Terminator, conference MVP Asi Taulava who came with his superstar teammates Bong Ravenna, Jimmy Alapag and Harvey Carey, and the defending UAAP champions Ateneo Blue Eales.

As everyone was seated, Tessa emerged with her gang of guards and handed out Swatch Survival Kits which were supposed to last the night or whatever it took to survive T3. Apparently made from the recycled parts of the old Terminators from the past movies, the kits contained food, water and most importantly our very own terminator sunglasses. A theater full of sunglass toting terminators proved that the machines are really back. Before the movie screening a simulated phone patch to Hollywood featuring "Ah-nuld" (Schwarzenegger) who told everyone to gear up for what was in store for the evening which meant lots of laughter and much more surprises especially since everyone kept trying to guess who spoofed the voice of the real Terminator.

The movie was a nuclear blast!

And just when we thought the night was over, more food and prizes came our way. Balloons filled the lobby of My Cinema and some of them even exploded as people trampled on them. Out came more goodies for us to take home until what Anton Barretto coined as a "Swatchenegger" evening was finally terminated. It was well past midnight. Hasta la vista, baby.
