What is your greatest fear?

No one is exempted from fear. More so today when there is so much uncertainty and alarming news like the impending US war on Iraq hogging the headlines. Whatever kind of fear might grip us, we must learn how to face what we fear so that we can better cope with it. In a sense we’re lucky because there are books, seminars and even medications that can help us deal with our fears. One of the best ways to deal with our fears is to know what they are and find the best way to cope with them. I am a firm believer that He is always here to help me make it through whatever it is that I fear. After all, I live my life knowing that He will never burden me with something I cannot handle. I asked a few people what it is they fear the most. Here’s what they had to say.
Dennis Padilla, Caloocan councilor, TV host, comedian: My greatest fear is that I might not be able to provide a stable life for my kids. Since show business does not offer a permanent job, I worry a lot about their future especially their education.
Myrza Sison, editor-in-chief, Cosmopolitan and executive editor, Summit Publications: "Fear itself, being bored and becoming boring."
Felix Barrientos, private banker/champion tennis player: My greatest fear is having my upcoming baby take after me. I do hope he or she will take after my wife, Reggie, as she’s just so incredibly talented.
Gilda Salonga, businesswoman: For me there’s nothing to fear because I have entrusted everything to God. He has given me and my family all the blessings we need and we have nothing more to ask. In Jeremiah 29:11-13, "When you call upon me and pray to me, I will listen to you. And you will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart."
Cathy Bengzon, ad & promo manager, commercial centers group, Ayala Land: My fear is losing my children. As a mother, I’ve nurtured them, gotten to know each of them and every part of their life and I know that I will be lost without them. When they are sick, I go on panic mode. When they are out of the house, I constantly monitor how they are doing and where they are. I can’t imagine what I will be like if they’re not around. I actually enjoy their clutter, noise, their pestering and their hugs and kisses.
Dr. Vicki Belo: My greatest fear concerns the future of my children and our country. It is the opposite of my greatest hope which is that our country be progressive, peaceful and a beautiful place for my children and my children’s children to live in. I am frightened when I see the brown haze that covers Metro Manila because we are polluting our city so much and that could make Metro Manila no longer habitable.
Korina Sanchez, anchor, TV Patrol/TV and radio host: My greatest fear, aside from seeing a walking zombie, is regret. Nothing is as hopelessly painful as losing a chance by default forever. So, seize the moment.
John Lesaca: Falling off a tall building. I had a very hard time at the Empire State Building in New York and the Needle Building in Toronto, Canada. Also, I would be afriad if my loved ones stop loving me.
