Weddings, Marco Polo style

Every woman at one point in her life has had a candy-coated wedding fantasy. However, fantasies only stay sweet because the reality of the planning is anything but. After the proposal and date-setting, the real pain begins. Weddings and the attendant details – mulling over guests, motifs, the entourage – can turn brides-to-be into crazy politicians.

Brides-to-be don’t want their weddings to turn into a horrifying cliché. With this in mind, the Marco Polo Hotel in picturesque Davao City has unveiled its Four Seasons Bridal Fair 2002 to put an end to lackluster wedding themes.

It features sceneries from different seasons (summer, fall, winter and spring), with each setting a unique and perfect venue to celebrate love. The showcases were made by specialty wedding companies such as Details, Gifts from the Heart by Annie, Hearts & Flowers and Royal Flowers. Marco Polo Hotel has come up with a munificent package to make sure that the special day will be a truly memorable one.

The wedding package includes complimentary stay in the Cabana Room with buffet breakfast for two and late check out till 4 p.m., plus a one-month swimming pool pass. The couple also gets a bottle of champagne for every table of ten at the reception, with Tiffany floral arrangement for the presidential as well as individual tables, elegant seat covers, a Fondant wedding cake, a violinist who will perform for 45 minutes, a flaming sword parade, a decorated wedding bell and bird cage, a wedding guest book, signature frame for bride and groom, a decorated bridal car and place cards for presidential table. The package also includes stage with backdrop panels, sound system, rostrum with microphone and a bridal shower with a maximum of ten persons.

Of course, the couple can choose which of the four seasons (winter, spring, summer or fall) theme setup they prefer.

The fair featured a bridal show by the Fashion Designers Guild of Davao, beauty talk with Dr. Pacita Belisario and Christine del Valle-Duque, tips on choosing a wedding cake from Marta Mari-Matute and a helpful talk from Rajo Laurel on dressing for the big day.

The highlight of the event was an impressive fashion show directed by Robbie Carmona which featured wearable confections by Rajo Laurel as part of his bridal collection for 2002.

The modern bride as featured in the show is anything but the pitiable lady in love cloaked in cheesy lace and heavy petticoats. She is elegant, cosmopolitan, chic and, yes, sexy.
