What’s the best & worst part of being a man?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo -
Last week, we asked the women. This week, the men want to be heard as well. Like women, men enjoy being men and sometimes they hate it. Yes, the men get to date a lot of women without raising eyebrows. But they also get to pay for the dates. They don’t have to put on makeup. But they have to wait while the women get ready. They make the decisions. But the women get to decide what’s important. It’s not a perfect world. But together, men and women complement each other’s lives.

Vhong Navarro, comedian:
Men are lucky because we don’t have to undergo the pain of giving birth. We can also date a lot of girls and people would never say negative things. Hindi masamang tingnan compared to when girls do it. On the other hand, magastos! This could be the worst thing about being a man!

David Jacob, businessman:
Best thing – we get to make all the decisions in life. Worst thing – women get to decide what’s important! A priest told me that at a wedding three years ago and now, after being married for two years, I’d say it’s true.

Anton Gonzales, businessman; owner, Kidz Station:
The best part of being a man is not having to go through nine months of pregnancy and childbirth. The worst part is not being able to experience nine months of pregnancy and childbirth.

Marvin Agustin, actor, Whattamen:
The worst part of being a man is being given bigger responsibilities. The best part is being on top of situations. But then again, there are times when I prefer not to be in that position – literally and figuratively!

Kahlil Kaimo, actor:
I’m not yet a full-fledged man, but for me, the worst part would be the added responsibilities. The best part is being able to do whatever I feel like doing as long as it’s not bad or as long as I don’t hurt anyone. There’s more freedom when you’re grown up.

Ronald Singson, businessman:
The best thing about being a guy is you can choose the women you want to be with. A woman has somewhat limited options. She can choose from guys who are gutsy enough to show their interest. The worst thing about being a guy is we usually make the stupidest mistakes in relationships, making us appear clueless and that sucks!

Dominic Ochoa, actor, Whattamen:
The worst part is having to pay for everything on a date. The best part is not having to put on makeup or blow dry your hair preparing for a date. There's also the advantage of being able to pee standing up.

Quark Henares, filmmaker:
The best thing about being a guy is that you don’t get periods. The worst thing is you have to deal with people who do.

Marc Nelson, TV host, model and Young Star columnist:
The best thing about being a guy? Shorter lines at public toilets. Society expects you to mature slower than girls. No need to wear makeup or blowdry your hair. Being able to go swimming without fear of attracting sharks on any day of the month. Falling mutually in love with a great girl for however long it lasts.

The worst part? Puberty. Those surprise "tent in the pants" moments on school days. Being dumped by your one true love over the summer. Barkada macho peer pressure that makes you do stupid things. Being stereotyped by society as afraid of commitment. Having a sneaking suspicion that society might be right.
