Millet Mananquil, The Philippine STAR Lifestyle editor and associate editor and one of the countrys most prominent journalists, recently turned a year wiser, happier and more beautiful.
The celebration was held at the classy, newly-completed residence of gracious hosts, Ricco Ocampo and Tina Maristela-Ocampo. The enterprising and talented couple designed the 60s inspired home themselves.
Tall, dusky, and former U.P. campus beauty Millet lived up to being a glamour guru during her bash. Who would have thought that the lady in the sexy off-shoulder blouse is already a doting grandmother? Good looks and an impeccable fashion sense run in the family, of course. Millets three children are some of the most sought-after models today: Rissa is the local face of Benetton, Rissas twin Robby is a Bench image model, while statuesque Raya, one of Manilas Five Loveliest for 2000 is the new image model of Folded & Hung.
All three kids, their father, Journal columnist, businessman and Tarlac civic leader Robert Mananquil and Millets dearest media colleagues and "Eating Club" friends, were on hand to greet and support Millet. Missed was Marzo Samson, Millets son-in-law who is taking post-graduate studies in Milan, Italy.
Ricco and Tina served cuisine by Gilbert Pangilinan, a chef of the famous Nobu New York resto, who will soon open his own resto at the new Greenbelt. The purity of white tables was broken only by the colored glasses and delicate floral centerpieces so simple, so stylish, so very Millet.
Among those present were Sen. Loren Legarda and hubby Gov. Tony Leviste; Sen. Francis Pangilinan; New York-based designer Josie Natori; construction magnates Sid Consunji and Philip Cruz; retailing princess Robina Gokongwei-Pe; beauteous ladies DorisMagsaysay-Ho, Ching Cruz, Agnes Huibonua, Carol Sy, Beng Dee and Maritel Nievera; Millets media colleagues Philip Cu-Unjieng of PEOPLE Asia; Myrza Sison of Cosmo; Anton San Diego of Tatler; Tim Yap of PDI; STARs very own Mons Romulo-Tantoco and Celine Lopez; businessmen JonJon Rufino and Victor Consunji; restaurateur Rikki Dee; lawyers SP Sumulong and MTV marketing man and STAR columnist Rod Nepomuceno.
Happy birthday to our celebrators today, Conchitina Bernardo and Chita Lopez.
Advanced birthday greetings to columnist and director Nestor Torre Jr., May 6; ivory beauty Helen Gamboa Sotto, May 7; Rep. Mike Romero, Rafaelito Rufino and Robert Coyuito Jr., May 8; Boling Reyes and Miguel Montenegro, May 9; and Justice Edgar Cruz and Chit Salud, May 10.
