What’s your favorite TV show?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo -
We may not realize it, but television is a powerful medium. It can inform, entertain, or make you buy a new brand of detergent. It can expose corruption, educate the public or act as baby-sitter for our children. Television is ubiquitous, it can make or break a political candidate. Television is invasive, it has moved from the living room to the bedroom. It is also very personal, as we all have our favorite shows. I interviewed a few personalities and asked them what program they would rush home for to watch on TV.

Patty Cojuangco, student:
Game Ka Na Ba? I find it exciting. I feel like crying when they win, especially after I hear their stories. I don’t really watch that much TV but when I do, I watch Friends, Pipol, Private Conversations and The Buzz. I’m an ABS-CBN fan.

Ely Pinto-Mansor, formerly head of CITEM:
I don’t watch TV except the news – CNN and The World Tonight on ANC.

Duane Santos, lawyer, businessman:
Survivor, definitely. That’s the only show I watch. Local TV shows? ABS-CBN Headlines with Karen Davila.

Betina Ocampo, Grade 6 student, International School:
I don’t have a favorite TV show since we don’t own a TV set in the house.

Bernie Concepcion, businessman:
I don’t have much time for television so I watch CNN, BBC and Discovery Channel.

Margarita Delgado, civic-minded lady:
CNN –it’s the only thing I watch. I work full time. I stay fit. I have two kids and I run a foundation, Sa Aklat Sisikat, a literacy campaign foundation.

Hindy Tantoco, Rustan’s "U" design team member:
FTV (Fashion TV) after midnight, Explorer on National Geographic Channel, Wild Discovery on Discovery Channel, Sex and the City on HBO, Third Rock from the Sun on StarWorld and Sheep in the Big City on Cartoon Network. I don’t really watch local TV shows.

DJ Montano, owner, RAJ:
I don’t really watch local TV but if I do, Boy Abunda’s Private Conversations is really interesting. His questions are challenging, he puts the guests on the spot, and they can’t help but answer. It’s very exciting.

Bobby Cuenca, businessman:
My favorite shows? Anything that has to do with archaeology or civilization in the National Geographic or Discovery Channel.

Miguel Rosales,
interior designer: Local TV show? The Buzz because it keeps me updated on the latest goings-on. My favorite foreign TV show is Amazing Race on AXN. I want to see if I can do the same things within the same limited time frame.
