Kate Spade: Inspired by fairy tales
MANILA, Philippines - Continuing with the yearlong theme of “Escaping the Ordinary,” this season’s collection is inspired by fairy tales imagined from Roald Dahl stories including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and the character of Truly Scrumptious from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Inspiration is found from a box of chocolates. Sweet treats adorn the collection with milky chocolate brown hues accented with cream and pale pink. Relaxed layers of rich woolen plaids, flannels and quilting mix with pretty hues and elaborately adorned fabrics. Bold florals are shown on flirtatious silhouettes with feminine detailing.
Ready to wear for fall features a strong selection of outerwear styles in rich woolen fabrics and prints including the plaid poncho in fairytale red, wool toggle coat in lollipop red, faux fur collar coat in pumice, woodland check bow coat in pumice check, jeweled button wool coat, and blonde mink coat. Midi skirts, including the woodland plaid midi skirt in pumice check, as well as the petite florals skirt, continue to trend through the season. Graphic florals bloom atop blouses, pants, and skirts in the petite florals print, falling florals print, and rose brocade print. Separates include sequin collar shirttail tops, culottes, embellished sweat suits, and chiffon blouses. Madison Avenue collection pieces include lady like dresses shown in classic silhouettes, including the Loula strapless dress with bow back, and Tavlor dress in black.
In handbags, the Mega Maise is introduced, an updated size to the classic Maise style, in both leather and printed fabric. Also new to the Cameron Street group is the Cale, an oversized tote with outside pockets, made in plaid fabric. Novelty bags include a fox clutch, mushroom clutch, furry owl, and candy wrapper clutch. The Bennett street group features a sporty stripe in two-toned colors on three styles of bags including a clutch, the Prue; satchel, the Ryn; and bucket bag, the Seren.
Fashion accessories play off the whimsical tales with faux fur accessories including stoles, gloves, hats, and arm warmers. Felt baseball caps feature pom pom tops in faux fur or faux rabbit, and fedora style hats with grog rain ribbon detailing are integrated into the line.
