Pigeon launches campaign for 'Baby in My Belly'

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Pigeon, a maker of mother care and baby products, is training the spotlight on Filipina mothers-to-be by raising awareness on how to properly look after them throughout their journey to motherhood with its “Baby in My Belly” campaign, to be launched on Aug. 26 at the Grand Atrium of the Shangri-La Plaza and Sept. 1 at The Block, SM City North EDSA.

“Baby in my Belly highlights the importance of ensuring not just the baby’s wellbeing throughout pregnancy, but also the mother’s,” says Maye Yao Co Say, COO of Richwell Phils. Inc., the exclusive distributor of Pigeon products in the country. “As a brand that looks after the needs of mothers and mothers-to-be, Pigeon goes beyond providing durable, high quality, and user-friendly products to underscore its commitment to these women with this initiative.”

Brand ambassador Amina Aranaz-Alunan expresses her enthusiasm for the campaign. “As a mom, I have personally experienced the frustrations of an expectant mother. It’s important that her family, friends and even others know how to best support her during pregnancy.”

Yao Co Say cites Japanese culture as an example of one of the inspirations behind the campaign. “In Japan, ‘mother care’ during pregnancy is something taken very seriously. For instance, railways, airlines, hospitals and other companies in Tokyo provide pregnant women with badges to identify them so that other passengers can offer them their seats, especially during rush hour.”

Part of Pigeon’s efforts is the release of The Pigeon Mom Pregnancy Etiquette Guide, which provides pointers on how people should regard pregnant moms and creatively expresses these women’s sentiments, such as how they appreciate little gestures like holding the door for them or how they feel uncomfortable when strangers touch their pregnant bellies without their consent.

The campaign likewise includes activities, events, and special workshop sessions that tackle relevant issues for expectant mothers, several of which are to be done in partnership with some of the country’s most reputable health institutions.

And as parenting guide books are more common finds, Pigeon will be releasing a Mom’s Pocketbook, this time dedicated to women who are still journeying through pregnancy.
