Wine Story offers holiday favorites

-

MANILA, Philippines - Whether as a gift or a carefully thought-out selection for your holiday table, wine has a special place in this most joyous time of year. Wine Story, which carries first-rate vintages from exceptional winemakers across the world, offers different wine gift packages to choose from.

Wine Story also showcases more affordable “second wines” that taste great, too. The currently available vintages at friendly prices are ready to drink and these wines can be kept for at least five years.

Among the great picks for your own party or for gift-giving are the “2011 Favorites” which retail at a special price of P5,500. These include the 2009 Les Monts Damnes, an intense sauvignon blanc from the town of Sancerre; CDP Senechaux, Domaine des Senechaux 2007, a fresh, pure and well-defined red wine with finely etched raspberry and cherry flavors; and the 2007 Chateau Bernadotte, a rich, full-bodied wine with delicious aromas of fresh red fruit.

Another holiday wine gift set is the “The Right Christmas” which Wine Story offers at a special set price of only P4,500. It consists of the fruitier and softer Right Bordeaux blends that are perfect for sharing and celebrating. The set includes the Teyssier 2008, a deep-colored wine which consists of a blend of 85 percent merlot and 15 percent cabernet Franc; Plaisir de Siaurac 2007, the second wine of Chateau Siaurac, a relatively unknown estate that has captured the attention if critics of late; and the Aiguilhe 2007, wine that is ruby/purple in color, with sweet black current, charcoal, roasted herb, and spicy box aromas.

From one of the oldest estates in St. Emilion, opt for the “Santa and his Elf” selection, which includes St. Emilion’s Chateau Corbin Grand Cru Classe. Saint-Émilion wines are marked by complex red berry qualities, opulent tannins and cedar notes that develop with age. For only P4,500, you can get the Corbin 2006, a medium-bodied wine characterized by dried rose petal and berry aromas, fine tannins and a fresh, clean finish; and the XX De Corbin 2005, deliciously fruity with notes of herbs, black cherries, currants and a judicious touch of toasty oak.

Express your appreciation to valued clients and business associates with discriminating taste the “Red Christmas” pack, offered at a special set price of only P4,500. Get history in every bottle with La Gurgue 2007, a medium-bodied, aromatic young wine that shows a berry and floral character, with a good core of fruit and silky tannins; Chateaux Lanessan 2000, a deliciously complex wine with a classic note of cedar, spice box, black currant, plum and earth; and Senejac 2007, wine with light ruby color, with fresh raspberry fruit on the nose and a palate that is lifted in style with touches of clean berry, tobacco and mineral character.

Wine Story can be found at the ground floor of Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City (633-3556) and at Serendra, Bonifacio High Street, Taguig City (846-6310). You may also visit their website at www.winestory.com.ph.
