An ode to orange at SM

-

MANILA, Philippines - Orange has added zest to summer 2011 runways, making it the “it” color of the moment. Mulberry, Proenza Schouler, and Tory Burch showed the vibrant, bold color in their New York Fashion Week shows.

Cacharel featured lots of knee-length orange dresses, as did Christopher Kane, who also included lace and asymmetrical patterns. Max Mara had an orange crush with dynamic shades in ankle length trousers, blazers, and shorts. As part of its color blocking collection, Gucci dazzled with an orange silk tulip skirt and blazer worn with other bold colors like turquoise and purple.

SM shows some great ways to wear great orange picks:

• Keep your orange items simple. You don’t really have to go head to toe, and it’s best to mix it with white, browns, and black; or go for color blocking a la Gucci.

• There are various shades of orange ranging from neon to coral. Pick the best hue for your skin tone. Those with lighter skin look good in coral, while you can wear bolder shades if you have olive skin.

• For that ultra glamorous look, accessorize your orange outfit with gold — jewelry, bags, and shoes.

• If you feel you can’t wear orange, you can still follow the trend by using orange bags, shoes, jewelry, and scarves. Remember accessories are an important part of transforming your outfit into something chic.

Photographed at the Ronac Art Center by Uratex, the collection is available at the Ladies Wear Department of selected SM stores.
