Rusty Lopez designs for the modern family

-

MANILA, Philippines - Rusty Lopez took stylish steps towards the footwear needs, wants (and even whims!) of every member of the “Modern Family” at the recent Philippine Fashion Week at the SMX Convention Center.

Its holiday and back-to-school 2011 collections included Dad’s formal and casual shoes; Mom’s sandals and classic pumps; ladies’ edgier peep-toes, trendy pumps and strappy stilettos; boys’ boat shoes and boots; and little girls’ doll shoes and studded gladiator sandals.

The all-white décor was original and playful. Stunning models strutted their stuff from the lounge chairs onto the center of the runway. First to sashay down the runway were family and friends — in maxi dresses and hats, in cotton shirts, plaid shorts and Rusty Lopez’s wedge sandals and casual or patent loafers.

Rusty Lopez also presented the best shoes to go with the quintessential denims. Men were clad only in jeans and loafers while women wore denim shorts with casual and patent loafers and metallic ballerina flats. It underscored the idea that Rusty Lopez, like your all-around dependable denims, has evolved into staple, all-season footwear that has served the Filipino market for 34 years. Shooties, studded wedges and cutting-edge platform heels were highlighted with the biker look.

The once all-white stage was suddenly awash with vibrant colors as a hip ‘70s groove came in blasts of sunshine yellow, hot pink, deep purple, brilliant blue and other bold hues with basic pumps and loafers as the shoes of choice.

Suits and working clothes that were tweaked to make them hip, trendy, fashion-forward, worn with metallic shoes and stilettos for women and men’s pigskin loafers and walking shoes.

The show’s finale in black and white suggested Hollywood glamour as women donned fun, flirty bubble-hem tea skirts and short cocktail dresses paired with jet black, sophisticated heeled shoes or strappy slim-line stilettos. Men looked dapper in crisp white tux shirts and shorts matched with formal lace up, monkstrap or loafers.

“This show creatively showcased our company statement on the importance of having the right and stylish footwear for the needs and wants of every member of the today’s modern family,” says band director Nicole Lopez.
