Slide over for Banana Peel flip-flops

MANILA, Philippines - Banana Peel, the first-flip-flop concept store in the country, recently teamed up with the SM Group as it unveils two new collections exclusive only to SM: the Korean-themed Saranghae and the bizarre yet attractive Surreal.

“Saranghae is the Korean word for ‘I love you.’ Colorful, spunky, and easy on the eyes, these flip-flops give you a taste of Korea,” said Nikki Ng, owner of Banana Peel. “With the Surreal collection, you get to journey to the world of the bizarre with designs that are inspired from the deepest recesses of your sub-consciousness, irresistible for those who aspire to be different.”

As an added bonus, for every two pairs of purchase from these collections, SM shoppers will also get a fancy Banana Peel keychain.

Since 2002, Banana Peel has brought to the country a new wave of slippers that are chic and trendy. This was the year Filipinos started to see flip-flops as something that reflects their yearning for individuality.

“Banana Peel began with a dream of taking a simple pair of rubber slippers and festooning these with fancy, eye-catching designs. Influenced by the prevalent laid-back, sunny Californian lifestyle where wearing flip-flops is the norm, Banana Peel capitalized on the fact that the Philippines’ climate is similar to that of California and Filipinos would appreciate wearing footwear with flair,” said Nikki, who added that Filipinos embraced Banana Peel flip-flops during their initial outing.

Before other foreign flip-flop brands set foot on our shores, Banana Peel was already trailblazing the market. Always coming up with fresh, unique, innovative designs Banana Peel has become the preferred flip-flop brand of Filipinos.

To date, Banana Peel has a high number of stores, outlets, and boutiques all over the Philippines, and has presence in the United States, Japan, Singapore, Greece, and the Baltic states. Realizing its immense popularity in Malaysia, Banana Peel opened shop at the KL Mall and Sunway Pyramid Mall in Kuala Lumpur in April 2009.

Banana Peel shops are located at Alabang Town Center, TriNoma Mall, Market! Market!, Robinsons Metro East, Robinsons Place Ermita, Robinsons Dasmariñas Cavite, Robinsons Lipa Batangas, Tutuban Mall, Sta. Lucia Grand East Mall, Gaisano Mall Davao, NE Cabanatuan Mall, Greenhills Theater Mall. The Banana Peel outlet shop is located at 768 Ylaya Street, Divisoria with tel. no. 242-9825.
