Saizen is here with funky products from Japan at P85 each
MANILA, Philippines - Saizen, Japan’s most exciting and complete one-price retail store, is now in the Philippines, thanks to the collaboration between Robinsons Retail Corporation and Daiso Sangyo Inc., Japan.
Located at the third level, East Lane of Robinsons Galleria, the 800-square-meter store boasts over 20,000 functional, fun and funky products from Japan at an amazing price of P85 each item.
“Saizen” is a Japanese term which means “best choice.” And with the opening of its first flagship store in the country, shopping at Saizen means getting merchandise of the best quality at the best price.
Saizen joins 25 other international partners of Daiso-Sangyo, Japan to bring all-original, practical, and interesting wares to a fast-growing, modern, and sophisticated Filipino consumer market,” says Saizen general manager Johnson Robert Go, Jr. at the store’s launch. “We are proud to introduce Saizen, the 8th retail format under Robinsons Retail Group. Its entry into the local market was made possible through the support of Mitsubishi Corporation, a top trading company in Japan.”
Present at the inauguration were Hirotake Yano, founder and president of Daiso-Sangyo Inc. Japan; Masayoshi Naito, senior managing director heading international branches and Daiso USA; and Yuwa Watanabe, Daiso’s senior manager. Guests from Mitsubishi Japan — Toshifumi Inami, general manager, Manila branch; Noboyuki Ichiki, incoming general manager, Manila branch; and Tomoyuki Nishida, manager, Mitsubishi Inc., Tokyo — also graced the occasion.
Representing Robinsons were James Go, JG Summit Holdings, Inc. chairman and chief executive officer; Lance Gokongwei, JG Summit president and chief operating officer; Robina Gokongwei-Pe, senior vice president and group general manager of Robinsons Retail; and Tommy Lee O, vice president for property management of Robinsons Malls. Actress Megan Young joined in the ceremonial ribbon cutting rites.
Saizen is a veritable treasure trove of just about anything for your personal, home, school, and office needs.
Saizen carries the authentic Daiso-Sangyo trademark that is home to an estimated 90,000 novel, unique, and functional products from its headquarters in Japan, all at P85.
“Essentially, Saizen shares the same concept and follows the same retail principle as Daiso which is to always offer products of superior quality so we can keep customers happy and entice them to come back,” says Hirotake Yano, the man behind this amazing retail concept.
Saizen cuts across all market segments and varying lifestyles. There are decor, home storage organizers, gardening supplies, kitchen and ceramic wares homemakers, fashion accessories, and personal beauty effects for tweens and teens, office supplies for the workforce, trimmings for crafters, tools for handy dads and DIY-ers, school supplies, toys for kids, and so much more.
Saizen general manager Bobby Go further notes that Filipinos look for value-for-money buys especially at this time of global financial crisis: “The Filipino’s wallet may be shrinking, but if he is willing to spend, he would most probably splurge on Saizen’s quality goods, at only P85!”
The Japanese are known throughout the world for the importance they attach to price, quality, and design. Shops that lack innovativeness soon lose their popularity. In this severe environment, Daiso has nevertheless achieved remarkable growth and accounts for an overwhelming share of the growing 100-yen shop market.
It maintains a strict focus on novelty and quality — the key to its dramatic growth. The company introduces about 1,000 new products every month.
It has 2,500 stores in Japan and another 500 stores in Singapore, Korea, The Middle East, and Canada, among others and continues to expand by 20 to 30 stores every month.
“We are very excited about finally bringing Daiso products through our Saizen store, the sole carrier of Daiso-Sangyo products in the Philippines. The customer’s purchase at Saizen comes with the seal of quality and authenticity of Daiso-Sangyo. “We are very fortunate to have found a solid partner in Robinsons. We are positive that this partnership will be successful.” Yano said.
“Shopping at Saizen is one of the best experiences one can have,” notes Go. “Prepare to be amazed!”
