Racing to the top of mobile phone entertainment
Samsung recently highlighted the features of Innov8 with a fun and interactive adventure. The “Samsung Innov8 Race” kicked things off to an exciting start at the Manila Peninsula Conservatory where game master Vince Hizon introduced each participant to their teams. They were briefed on the various features of Samsung Innov8 and were given time to explore the mobile phone. Each of the eight teams was composed of four members — a celebrity, a member of the press, a Samsung dealer, and a Samsung marshal.
They had to race through eight pit stops, which tested the various features of the mobile phone. Rovilson Fernandez, Tisha Silang, Paolo Paraiso, TJ Trinidad, Geoff Rodriguez, Gary Estrada, Patricia Bermudez, RJ Ledesma, Ernie and Jeena Lopez, JR Isaac, and Paolo Manzano were among the members of the participating teams.
The teams had to view the clues sent to them via Bluetooth and must ensure that each task was completed correctly in each destination. The race had them navigating around Metro Manila using Samsung Innov8’s NavFone GPS feature and taking photos using the panoramic shot in Rajah Sulayman Park, researching wushu positions through the Samsung Fun Club Site at Infinitif Studio Pio del Pilar, and wall climbing at Power Up Silver City.
The teams explored the video and photo functions, such as mosaic shot, frame shot, and smile shot, of Samsung Innov8 at M Café and the Philippine Army Headquarters in the Fort. Then, they proceeded to the Samsung Concept shop where they connected the mobile phone to a Samsung LCD and played Asphalt4, an installed 3-D car racing game in the mobile phone. After riding the long board down McKinley Hill, the teams rushed to their last stop at Blue Leaf Events Pavillion, McKinley Hill, where they had to frame their shots.
Lyn Tan of Samsung, Gusty Uykim of Style Electronics, JR Issac, and John Hall of the Team Mosaic emerged as winners of the Innov8 Race. Members of Team Mosaic each bagged a cool new Samsung Innov8.
Samsung Innov8 officially made its debut the same evening at a launch party held at Blue Leaf Events Pavillion in McKinley Hill. Guests were welcomed by Samsung vice president for Marketing-Mobile Phones Charles Choi, head of mobile phones Fe Varilla, product manager Raine Javalera, marketing director Glen Glinoga, marketing manager Yam Marquez and channel division manager Mark Sergio.
Samsung dealers, friends, and the Innov8 Race participants attended the event. Slick Rick, Boom Gonzales, and Sam YG provided entertainment with their comical antics. Spiels of the new Samsung Innov8 product features and highlights of the race were shown to the crowd. Tim Tayag charmed the crowd with an awesome performance as guests sat down for a sumptuous dinner. The winning team of the Innov8 Race was awarded and a performance by Juan Pablo Dream wrapped up the evening.
Designed for powerful mobile photography and the ultimate multimedia experience, Samsung Innov8 is the first Symbian OS 8-megapixel mobile phone in the world holding a record for “the biggest photo taken,” and is the latest addition to Samsung’s Infotainment segment, which provides the most innovative 24/7 multimedia and entertainment features.
