Dogs do the catwalk
MANILA, Philippines - It was a day for pet lovers who like their pets in costume.
Celebrities and more treated the audience to a fashion show last Oct. 4, featuring their pooches’ fashion garb and cats in hats for the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and Pet Express’ “Dogs on the Cat Walk,” a fundraising fashion show at SM Skydome in SM North EDSA. The show was for the benefit of the PAWS Animal Shelter.
The crowd was in awe as the pets sashayed down the catwalk in cute outfits, which Pet Express showcased as it launched the new line of pet clothes and Halloween costumes.
Celeb watchers were happy as they spotted Daiana Menezes and her mom Adriane Alves with their dogs Obama and Kennedy, celebrity DJ Chico Garcia with Pomeranian Sinai, Paolo Valenciano with Shih-Tzu Trooper, Born to be Wild’s Dr. Nielsen Donato with Beyonce and Snowball, and celebrity stylist Alyanna Martinez with her adopted dog Clifford.
Joshua and Jopay Zamora had fun as they strutted in style with their eight small dogs in tow. Carmi Martin made the crowd cheer with her delightful entrance as a sexy witch together with Chloe, Happy and Buchi.
For the finale, TV host and soon-to-be bride of Vic Sotto, Pauleen Luna wore an elegant wedding gown from Regine’s Boutique, while carrying her two dogs, Pomeranian Stella dressed as flower girl and Chihuahua Simon in a tuxedo as ring bearer.
The special participation of some of PAWS’ rescued animals — cats Marlon and Mina and dogs Comy and Sunset — made the show more special.
Hosts Eri Neeman and Junior Jack Sophie Silvestre gave special awards for the Most Behaved, Most Unique and Best Dressed pets in the audience.
There was a photo booth where pet parents were encouraged to post photos of them holding their pet’s paw on Instagram to take part in the #PurinaLendAPaw2 promo. The promo aims to help generate food donations for the PAWS shelter.
