Frenchie Pierre on his human Pepper

Pepper Teehankee is one of my human’s really good friends! I often see him at our home when we have dinners and parties. Just like my human, Pepper loves to travel, eat wonderful food, appreciate art and write about it for a living! This lifestyle writer journeys around the world in search of the best experiences life has to offer, but the truth is some of his favorite moments are with his adorable French Bulldog, Pierre. 

“My sister’s friend has a lot of French Bulldogs and they had a litter of five puppies,” shares Pepper. “My sister was offered one, but she didn’t want a dog so she asked me if I wanted one. I was thinking so hard whether to get one or not since it is so hard to lose a pet since our pets are kind of part of the family. I thought about it but when I was sent the photo of this black and white Frenchie, I said yes. I have always loved dogs and always had one... I just thought that since I am away a lot, it would be hard, but my parents and sister love taking care of Pierre when I am away. Pierre is the only dog I ever had who is allowed to sleep on my bed.”

Describe yourself in three words?

Spoiled, overweight and adorable.

Describe your relationship with your humans?

I love being with humans. In fact, I have to be around humans. It doesn’t matter if they are awake or not, I just need a human close to me all the time.

What do you guys like to do together?

I love to play fetch with my countless toys... I also like them feeding me anytime of the day!

How do you get to spend time with each other?  

I’m either with humans or with the other two dogs, Charlie the Chihuahua and Linus the Yorkshire Terrier. They don’t really like me since I am so much bigger than they are, but they let me play with them sometimes. I have a daily habit of going to the gate every time I hear the doorbell... I always try to get there before anyone else does.

Are you closer to one human more than the other? 

Of course I am closest to Pepper who always feeds me. I sleep with him on his bed, but I only am allowed to be on the area of the bed, below his knees. I have my own big bed, but I like to sleep with humans.

Name one time you got into major trouble and how you got out of it.

I peed on the rug and ran all around the house when humans were trying to scold me. I just put on my “sad face” and got away with it.

What’s a typical day like for you?

Playing and eating during the day, then I sleep in the afternoon. I play and eat again, then I sleep at night.

What are your fave hobbies?

If there is a guest, I always try to play with them. I also like going around the garden to smell all the plants, flowers and grass... sometimes I run after birds.

Your human travels a lot! Do you get to go on any trips? Does he bring you back goodies? Name a few fave souvenirs.

I never get to go... unless it is nearby. I get too excited and I hyperventilate since I have a soft palate.  I have a hard time breathing so traveling isn’t good for me... unless I try not to get too excited! Pepper had the nostrils of my nose enlarged so I’ll have an easier time breathing... I was scared that I’d look different after my nose job, but I still look cute!

Are you an art lover like your human is?

I love art! I even have my portraits by Pepper’s artist friends! I have more coming from quite well-known artists! I can’t wait!

Your favorite place to hang in the afternoon?

The rug in the living room. I like sleeping there but when I wake up, I move to the den where Pepper works and watches movies.

Your fave food?

I love crepes! I go wild with crepes... maybe because I am French. 

And if you could have anything in the world, even “forbidden” stuff, what would be your ultimate meal?

Definitely steak... the more marbled, the better... I tasted Certified Prime Aged US Angus beef before and loved it... but Pepper says I can’t have a lot because it’s bad for me.

Describe your dream vacation and where it would be.

Somewhere cold since I love the cold! Not snowing necessarily, but somewhere very cold and with lots of treats and more French Bulldogs I can play with.

What would be your ultimate happy moment? 

Having my own pet... maybe another French Bulldog. Unlimited treats would be great, too!

Also please share five secret things about your humans that only you would know.

1. Pepper eats as much as I do... and as often as I do. So when he eats, I stay beside him so I can eat also.

2. Humans will always give me a treat if I put on my “sad face” and just lie down on the floor.  

3. They all favor me over Linus and Charlie... because I am so cute and so fat and they have much more to hold on to.

4. The humans I live with spend more time using the computer or watching TV than anything else.

5. Pepper will never wake up before 3 p.m. I wake him up at 8 a.m. daily to bring me down, then he sleeps again. I wait for him to go downstairs when he wakes up again for lunch.
